    Just use your factory front tie down points. Shit won’t break, and if it does, no upgraded recovery points were gonna get you out.

    It’s funny, I call the tie down points, but I was looking at the owners manual and saw that they refer to them there as front tow points. That surprised me. Although they said that they are for towing for a short tine on flat paved surfaces.


    The problem with these (apparently) tow points is that they are always going to be side-loaded in normal use. So the restrictions to use them on flat, paved surfaces for a short distance makes sense.

    I have the recovery points made my Treaty Oak installed. They are simple to put on and are rock solid bolted into the frame. These are about $150. Very highly recommended

    I have KDSS, no drilling and no bumper removal for installation. Just two very large screws that go into pretapped holes in the frame.

    I’ve done mechanical rigging for special effects and stunts for 25 years. I’ve seen hardware subjected to all kinds of high inertia abuse. I’ve never seen a properly rated steel shackle fail. I’ve seen them deform, but never fail.

    Has anyone here actually seen a rated screw pin anchor shackle fail?

    I’m not saying soft shackles don’t have their place. What I’m saying is that the decision to buy Treaty Oak recovery points shouldn’t be driven by whether or not they’ll take soft shackles.

    I like it because it will keep them from unscrewing. I check mine frequently for tightness.
