Difference between the 22' TRD pro 4x4 /22' Trail 4x4

I'm looking to get a better understanding on the difference between the two models. Both seem to share the same motor specs, wheel/tire package (I think the TRD has a more dedicated O-R tire which I'm guessing is fort rd off-rd), TRD skid plates, nurf steps and a few other details that one has over the other which doesn't seem to add or take away from performance.

What do you plan on doing with it?

 

Outside of a badge on the lower grill, raptor lights in the grill and tint... nothing. it has everything that I've wanted since I got into the community. I'm just really trying to find out the difference as well as the case that people make when they talk down heavily on people who have 2x4 SR5s.

 

No I mean just driving mostly on road, dabble In off roading, or more serious off roading?

 

I'm seeing the differences now, suspension mostly if I had to put a finger on the biggest things that's separating the many. Hell, put a v8 in it and it's game over. they'd send those prices well into the 60k spot for a truck then.

One thing I've seen in the community is that, if you don't have a TRD base on up, you were better off getting a Rav lol. Since I had my first 4Runner I realized I got so much crap because it was a 2x4 SR5 premium. I literally live in the city, no hills, I didn't camp, off road, trail ride or fish... I'd be buying something that tailors to all those things just for other peoples acceptance....naw I'm good on that note lol
Even had a lady clowning me to her husband in the gun store (not knowing I'm the person who's truck she was talking about) basically saying I was stupid for buying it and such because it wasn't a 4x4. needless to say, she was making herself look like an ass in the store like she knew about rifles and pistols until the salesman mad her look like an idiot because she kept giving him a hard time.

Ohhhhhh... ok, naw, I'm just on the road with it back and forth from Alabama to Georgia for work. I'll be doing some fishing when the weather gets back together and I've always wanted to go camping in the woods as well as find a community of Toyota riders to really build with.

 

It's not the trim, it's what you're doing with it. I haven't seen anyone give someone a hard time for having an SR5. But if you literally never camp, go offroad, etc., then a Highlander or Rav will simply likely fit your needs better.

 

Id skip on a pro. You can add on the pro grill and skid to get that look. Both roof racks are crap compared to aftermarket.

My SR5 does just fine with all the trails I’ve done. A lot of people will get a RWD 4runner, and then regret it once they take it off the pavement or see how much less demand there is when it comes to selling.

Is that the Trail Edition? The tires look more aggressive than what comes on most 4R models in your photo. The Trail is missing the rear locker, multi terrain select, and MTM on the Pro in addition to the Fox shocks and 1" front lift.

 

Just to understand what you're asking - you already have a 4R, and are just wondering what the differences between models are?

Yes, I have a 4x4 Trail edition 2022'

 

It's nice, congratulations. The Trail is basically an SR5 with some of the cosmetic items from the Off Road, but without the manual shifter for the transfer case, rear locker, or the crawl control and multi-terrain select that come on the Off Road and Pro. Still a nice 4x4, and enough off road ability for 95% of those who use it off road.

 

I'm just trying to get an idea on what the big fuss is about when it comes to the capabilities

 

Thanks for the explanation and the compliment. Wit all the features it had and what I added, I feel like it's no real difference. plus, in my opinion, its more aesthetically pleasing that some, before they start modding theirs

 

You'll find a ton of SR5 owners who are perfectly happy with the off-road abilities of the model. It's a great platform for building it the way you want, if you so choose.

 

I have a minor list so far so once I've checked those off, then will I consider going farther. off roading will be coming soon, hopefully for a real camping trip in Alabama or Georgia.

 

In regards to RWD and 4x4, there is a massive difference if you go off-road. On pavement with no snow, nothing.

 

That makes sense. I feel it depends on just how deep off roading you actually go before it starts to makes a noticeable difference.

 

For capability, it's the upgraded suspension, rear locker, and crawl control and multi-terrain select if you don't have that.

On top of capability, it has creature comforts like softex, standard sunroof, standard multi-terrain monitor, dual climate control, upgraded audio, etc.

 

I've seen people go off roading in Nissan Altima's. anything is possible lol

 

Yeah, some people want the extra goodies, others don't. That's why they make multiple trims.

I also don't understand how people spend so much money on a truck just to drop five to ten thousand on it off the lot and then take it straight to the mud and trails in the same week? Maybe my 750 credit score and descent monthly income means I'm poor lmao

 

I've got a Pro on the way but I'm not pushing anything. I'm pushing the right trim for the individual. If someone doesn't need or care about options, it would be a waste of money to get a higher trim.

 

Nobody is calling you poor but you. Get what fits your needs and be secure in that choice. You've implied multiple times that you feel judged for getting the vehicle you got, but I really don't think anyone is judging.
