Blower motor makes ticking noise. At first thought it was a lifter. Turn blower off, noise goes away. Vehicle has 89000 miles but has been doing this for a long time. Anyone else with this issue? Fix? Have extended warranty but dealer says they want diagnostic fee to determine if under warranty. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Buy a new one.

It’s a 140 dollar part and you can swap it out in less than 10 minutes yourself.

Dealer said it may be debris in motor. Sound reasonable?

Maybe. Just pull the cabin air filter and stick a vacuum cleaner edge cleaning tool in there to really clean it out and see if that helps.

Yeah, there could be something in the squirrel cage fan. I would try to look first before vacuuming. I had a leaf in there once, it was easier to pick it out by hand.

Yes, it could be debris such as a leaf.

I had the exact same thing happen. When I slid the filter out, it pretty much swet the big stuff on too of it and fell into the fan. When it gets turned on, the junk gets forced out to the edges where the blades are, and can kinda get stuck and hide in there.
