My T4R is currently at the dealership to replace water pump under warranty. 50k miles.

I know these are equipped with timing chains and not belts. Is there anything else that should be replaced with the water pump? Can’t find info on the 5th gens anywhere!!

At 50k miles probably not. They may replace other items while they have it apart, but it’s very easy to replace the water pump on the 5th gens and doesn’t require a lot to be removed.

It definitely doesn’t seem like it’s a hard job but certainly looked like an unnecessary amount of work to get to.

I’ll just let them do their thing and hope they don’t mess anything else up lol

50k? That’s crazy. I haven’t read about too many replacements either.

I haven’t seen a single video of a 5th gen 4Runner replacement. A few photos of small gasket leaks but not to the extent of mine.

    Sorry for your troubles.

I think once during the timing belt replacement, the dealership replaced the water pump on my 97’ Tacoma. I don’t remember them charging me so maybe it was around 60k miles. They said it was weeping a little. Other than that, no other pump issues.
    Sold it at 261k miles.
