Has anybody's hood ever popped open due to ice?

It's been super snowy and super cold here in New Jersey. Today I found my hood was popped partially up. As if the hood release had been pulled. There was some ice in the area of the hood, but it wasn't really anything I'd call problem-causing.

This is about 1 week after my last Toyotacare service. Maybe they didn't shut it all the way, and it didn't work its way loose until right now.

 

I've noticed if it doesn't get a slam with a little M A N in it that it'll pop back up. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

 

Thank you for your feedback. Yeah, I always slam it. My mom used to get on my case for being so rough on hoods on cars, but I never had anything break nor have I ever had any hoods pop up while driving.

 

Maybe what your mom has told you has caught up with you and you finally broke your first hood?

 

When I close it I always pull it up to make sure its locked. Not sure it that habit can help..
