    Icon Stage 7 C4 Front Low Pro front bumper C4 Sliders C4 ladder 17 x 9 Raceline rims
    On my 2021 TRD Pro I had an Icon Stage 7 complete suspension installed including the Billet upper control arms. When I looked at the hose running from the front reservoir to the shock it is pushing up against the spring. The vehicle has only 6000 miles on it and the hose is already rubbing down. I contacted Icon and they said that the hose "rubs sometimes" and I could put a $14.00 hose shield kit on it to help. I took it back to the shop that installed the suspension ( 4 Wheel Parts in Oakland Ca) and they said that it was installed correctly. I am concerned because the hose is pushing so hard against the spring that I cannot move it with my hands and it seems like it would not be letting the spring compress and extend as it was designed.20220113_135800.jpg 20220113_135819.jpg
    My first question is...
    Is this something that other people have experienced or am I getting the run around?
    How can a top of the line suspension kit be designed so poorly? ($7000 for the kit plus install)

    That's a genuine concern. Wish you could take it to Toyota specialized 4wd shop. No idea who's there in CA. Here in CO we have shops like Toytec & RSG. Not sure if you can get advice from them over the phone.

    It isn’t abnormal for the hoses to touch the spring. Mine does, too, on my fox. My issue was it was rubbing on the UCA, so I adjusted it and it looks like yours.

    Regardless of what's common and isn't, having fluid lines abrading on moving parts is bad news. Worst case is a failure while driving. Best case is premature end to expensive parts.

    There are many ways this could be fixed including angled fittings, line guides, etc.

    If they are selling $7000 kits designed for 5th gens, that rubs me the wrong way. They recognize a design oversight by making a part to fix it, and then they sell it? Damn, they got balls. Why not include it, or address the problem in their install procedures. Rubbing lines are really not OK…unless you fully accept that it will be an unnecessary failure point.

    However, Maybe I can understand their point if they are just selling you a pile of parts, with the expectation that the installer is also a bit of a designer and fabricator.

    edit: that would still be an expensive pile of parts, Id kind of would want concierge level of service for dropping that much coin, maybe even a bottle of champagne from them during the holidays.

    That is way too close. I have an icon set up and I can fit one of my fat fingers in between the coil spring at the hose.

    I would move the fluid reservoir to kick out that line.

    As said above, it’s a delicate balance to keep it away from the UCA.

    On a forum for a car as popular as T4R with often multi-page threads on what color to paint the lettering and how to install cross-bars there is no reasonable way to assume anyone's level of knowledge.

    If this was obvious to you, keep it moving.

    Might not have been to others.

    no, it’s just how the reservoirs are installed. They need to be moved a little.

    This, it’s up to the installer not to be retarded and have the reservoir touching the upper control arms or the hose touching the coils when the vehicle is sitting on the ground.

    The hose on my icons do barely touch as well. I have Weld 74 UCA. If they made the angle fittings on the hose a little longer it would solve the problem and move the hose away from the coil spring.

    Thanks to everyone for their input. I loosened the reservoir and bent the hose out away from the spring, then retightened the reservoir. With some pushing, bending and cussing I was able to get the hose approximately 3/16 of an inch away from the spring. The down side is at full extension the UCA rubs the hose now. I am sure that I will not be reaching full extension very often, so the hose will last much longer than rubbing on the spring constantly. This is a poor design and terrible customer support so I would suggest you pass the word onto fellow GEN5 owners considering the ICON brand.
