What are you guys using for cat protection plates? Cat theft is so crazy. I have steel plates on my Tundra, but I haven't seen any steel for the 4Runners. Ours is a 2020 SR5. Thanks

Thanks. I'll look into that one. I assume it completely blocks them off?

I hope so. I am looking at a CAT cover too. Only problem I have not confirmed yet is, if I get the C4 lo pro bumper, will the skidplate & midplate from Victory be compatible.

I just received my Talon's Garage Cat Cover. It is thick and feels really solid. I am going to install it tomorrow morning.

Continue to live in a small country town in the South where thieves are too lazy to saw a cat off. Otherwise I would be getting some type of armor or tape a claymore to it.

So far from what I'm seeing, to get steel plates that offer full cat protection, the option is the Victory 4x4 engine skid and the mid skid plate.

Not a great picture but is this a cat on our vehicles?

I ask because I always thought that cats had an O2 sensor on both ends. This one has no O2 sensors.

I believe the cats (2) right off the exhaust manifolds have the O2 sensors.

Cats will have an upstream (before) and downstream (after) 02 sensor.

Ok, then what is this thing in my picture? It has no O2 sensors.

Looks like a cat to me. The sensors will be further up. I'll look at ours when I get home.

That’s what I was wondering. If that’s the case then it wouldn’t need theft protection?

It’s right next to the transmission oil pan on the passenger side. Before the two exhaust pipes converge into one.

Alright, so my Talons Garage catalytic converter cover is now attached to my rig. Overall I am happy with the quality. It is 1/4" thick and can serve as an additional skid plate to the underside of my 4R. Here are some pics of the cover.

    Full cover:
    full-plate_75a6d5779dce6051edd1cf415042373fce66fce8.jpg
Here is a side view so you can see the thickness, it is very solid:
    width_223c229c99a26fdb7794bc6b99acd63c8d251820.jpg
Here it is installed behind the two skid plates at the front of the truck:
    installed_ef2ef3540444afc7bc4dcff9539d04aff14c5b36.jpg
Here is one of the CC covered by the plate:
    cc-1_f6530c36ff481840ed4300f5533cff2614e3dc2a.jpg
    And here is the other:
    cc-2_3f2bf1dc98558e305479e0b5d562ae6ec50dbcbf.jpg

It worked out really nicely: a little peace of mind as well as additional armor for the underside of my rig. Let me know if you have any questions. I am planning to do a video I can share later if anyone is interested.

Looks great! I need to get this for my wife’s ‘21 nightshade. I recently got cc plates for my ‘21 tundra. Must have for extra piece of mind.

also, any video that you do to help the community would be greatly appreciated. Can’t speak for all but maybe most lol.

Does it completely block access to the cats and pipes? Can the rear of the cats be accessed from the rear of the plate? I know some of the sawz alls are smaller these days. I'm looking at this versus the Victory 4x4 mid plate.

I really don't know what size the saws are. The back part is definitely more accessible, the front part doesn't have much access. So someone may be able to cut the back section but I don't know that they would have much success trying to cut the front part loose.

All cat jokes aside, what is the harm of enclosing the catalytic converter and exhaust instead of giving it room to breathe and dissipate heat?

The plate has holes in it. Heat is not an issue with cat plates. I have 2 of them on my Tundra.

Did you add their security hardware to the transaction? Looks like it is an additional $60?

After shipping and tax, I'd be pushing close to $500 which is what my deductible is.
