Y'all see the 2023 Sequoia reveal?

The TRD Pro looks really sharp. I think this bodes well (in terms of aesthetics) for the next gen 4Runner.

Yeah, I saw a comment where someone said this is what they should have done with the Tundra grille. I do like the look of the TRD Pro, I don't need an 8 seater so I'll stick with my 4R. It is a nice design touch where you can move the seats all the way back and delete the storage space as needed.

 

Pretty nice, but the camo stuff is cheesy.

Given the markups on the 4R Pros imagine what they will want for this $100k or more lol.

 

Someone somewhere said this will replace the Land Cruiser in the US so I think you are probably correct.

 

While watching the new Sequoia videos one of the relative videos was about Tundra turbo wastegate issue. Looks like there are few videos on that issue. I wonder if Sequoia would have the same problem. And one of the videos on the same list was a guy fixing BMW for turbo wastegate problem. I wonder if Toyota put down the reliability for better MPG? When the reliability is down people obviously go for EVs.

One of the downsides with buying a brand new version is there are problems that can surface. This has happened with previous versions of vehicles, for instance I think there was an issue with the first rollout year for the Tacoma. I like Dave from Automotive Press a lot and he said that he didn't think the Tundra would have any problems. He's an engineer and has been to the factories in Japan so I had hopes that the Tundra would be pretty much great from day one but it looks like that may not be the case.

I am just happy I have a proven vehicle that was built in Japan. I feel good about it being highly reliable for as long as I want to keep my rig,

I was thinking maybe I will just go with N/A engines as long as I can afford gas.

By the time I have to switch there will be capable EVs that has 400+ miles of range (with running HVAC, headlights and other peripherals).

 

Yeah I will let someone else take the financial risk of buying a lemon EV or newer style turbos etal I will stick with things that have a record as long as can.

 

TRD Jon on YouTube showed it up close on his preview. Looks like it is actually rather functional,.

 

I actually really like it. I like that they turned down the Hulk Hogan stache grill/bumper, and I dig the Highlander XL look of the body from the A pillar back.

I also really like that the solid rear is back, and that the TRD packages contain actual off-road stuff now. IMO the TRD OR will be the sweet spot of the range, especially if it can be had in SR5 trim (like the Tundra I think?)

The new drivetrain doesn't scare me, the TQ number is awesome, and I expect Toyota to work out any bugs. I imagine the price will be high, like everything in this class, but I'm not one who buys new cars, I'll be looking on the used market in maybe 7 or 8 years, which is when my 4R will be passing 300k miles.

 

Especially when it requires engine out job that is very concerning.

 

I see they have joined the Porsche school of engine repair.

 

I can't imagine signing up for that on a truck within a couple hundred miles. Yikes.

 

Imagine paying the absurd markups on that truck and then its up in the air. I saw some new Bronco's up in the local Ford dealer also lately with engine out.

Yes thank you sir, can I please pay $80-100k for this and watch it up on your lift for who knows how long; unreal.
