305/60R18 tire...Wheel width/offset question

I just purchased a new 2016 4runner Trail premium (Non-KDSS)

I test drove a lifted 4runner the dealer had for sale and loved the set up...not their price for lift. So I purchased a stock 2016 4runner and am doing lift and tires on my own.

Here what I want and am going to do...then the question:

I am buying the Icon stage 3 lift which includes adjustable struts, upgraded UCA's, stabilizer bar, etc to lift 4runner to 3"...

The dealer had 305/60R18 tire on a 3" lifted 4runner which I test drove and no rubbing. Locked wheel left, locked wheel right...no rubbing at all. So I want to run this same size tire...

I asked the dealer what size wheel they were running on this set up and he said "18 inch wheels..." I told him "...I figured that much but what width wheel?"...he had no clue and I had no tape measure to verify.

What size wheels do I need to order to make this set up work with no rubbing...18x9, 18x10, 18x12? I spoke to few tire shops and none of them believed 305 tire fit 4runner on 3inch lift with no rub...I showed them pic of side wall...they scratched their heads and suggested I go 18x7 or 18x8...but they did not seem sure. 18x8 sounds to skinny of a wheel...idk.

I am buying Fuel Hostage but do not know what width I need. What about offset, will 4.5" work or do I need to go with different offset?

 

You need a negative offset.

Wheel offset and backspace measure the same thing but in a little different way. They tell you where in the wheel well a particular wheel will sit. Offset is a measurement in millimeters from the backside of the mounting plate to the center line of the wheel. A positive number puts the mounting plate…

You want at least a -12 offset which pulls the inside edge of the wheel further away from your control arm. The higher number on the backspacing the deeper it will sit in the wheel well. As in on an 8" wheel, with a 4.5" backspacing, it means the mounting surface is .5" away from its center line of the wheel in the direction of the outer edge.

Does that make sense?
