    Quick question....
The 4runner the dealer ordered from port came with push button ignition.

Can I run the audio system without running the engine? What happen to accessory mode?

it’ll be the same as if you had a key. Just don’t put your foot on the brake pedal

And if you ever want to keep listening to the radio but turn off the engine, put it in neutral before pushing the button. It will keep the vehicle in accessory mode and you can then shift to park.

will it still shut off every20-25 mins or so.. I took the kids to the drive-in movies and I had to turn the car back on about 5-6 times during the movie..
    I have a 2021 SR5P..

I would think this is a simple fix. You have a red and a yellow wire running to your head unit...1 for supplying a small amount of power for the clock, date, etc and 1 for supplying power to the radio once turned on by the vehicle (or your finger once the car is on).

Why couldn't you run a fused, "hot" lead from the battery to a toggle switch (on/off) on the dash, then run that wire and splice that to the hot lead into the radio. Normally, that switch is "off" because the vehicle is controlling when power is supplied or cut off from the head unit.

But, in a situation like those described above, once the power is cut to the radio from the vehicle to preserve battery (because the engine is off), you would turn on the toggle switch for un-interrupted music until you turned the toggle switch off.

I used to do something like that in all my stereos in the 80s and 90s, although I just wired the yellow and red together and didn't bother with a switch.
