Looking to start pricing / narrow down good heavy duty bumpers for front and back. Don’t need anything to crazy just want good well built functional bumpers. Any suggestions ?

    What's functional for you?

ARB has a nice bolt-on option; I had one on my Tacoma. I ran a Trail Gear bumper in the rear of it as well. Both options available for our 4Runner.

On my 4Runner, I run a Nguyenworks dual swing-out in the rear but will build my own front.

Functional is pushing something without it crushing … , something with a bolt on or weld on winch platform if I want to go that rout later on

Well, unless you specifically opt for a Prerunner style bumper they pretty much all have the option to mount a winch.

You've got bumpers you can weld yourself; DIY kits that come with CNC-cut panels you put together.

Coastal Offroad, True Nortb Fab, and many more.

    That's normal for all bumpers.

Bumpers attach to the frame/horns of a vehicle, thus allowing the necessary (and unnecessary) weight to be applied without damage.

No offense but, kind of odd for you to ask. Did you have a bumper made of sheet metal?

Like the look of the stock 5th gen but my previous 4runner have light impacts on the fronts of these trucks do a lot of damage .
I have a TJM T13 on my LC200 its a great full replacement , had ARB bumpers , can’t go wrong there but they did have powder coating problems , I had on I bought in 2018 and process to get ARB to cover the corrosion coverage , the coating just sucked .
I like the RELENTLESS FABRICATION STINGRAY LO-PRO.

As stated by @Mtbpsych the OP has a 3rd Gen.

There are far less options for an outdated platform than there are for 4th/5th.

I just checked C4's website. Doesn't look like they make anything for 3rd Gen 4runners. Doesn't really help the OP much.

Only because I hadn't done so but here's my rear bumper -

    20210716_120915.jpg

    I opted to add a fold-out table -

    20210413_114920.jpg

Keep in mind, you'll need to wire your own license plate light, if your state requires you to have one -

    20210113_114415.jpg

For the front, I plan on building a bumper out of a front winch mount. If you know how weld, this unlocks a ton of possibilities -

    20210221_135025.jpg

Really, if you google aftermarket bumpers for 3rd Gen 4Runners you'll most likely run into the big thread in the 4R.org site.

With all that said, the biggest reason for upgrading for me was -

    Ability to carry a full-size spare (33")

    High-clearance, as I dragged my bumper when I'd off-road

I've heard they don't use as thick of a steel for their front plate like Coastal Offroad does; that's why I wrote off TNF.

But I hear ya, steel is not cheap especially now.

I will check out coastal. Thanks for the heads up. I just bought a Hobart handler and have a stick machine. I've been wanting to get bumpers and sliders going for my third gen. I just have too many projects( 66 mustang with built 302, and my 92 pickup SAS in progress) to find time to do it. Hopefully soon though.

I’ve checked out these links y’all sent thank you ! Didn’t see much of anything on rear bumpers aside from the pictures above. That one has little surface to stand on.
Thanks y’all for what you’ve shared so far !!

I'm very curious to see how the AMP'd Up winch mount bumper turns out Kwikvette. Probably going to install one in my 2000 this spring but planning on leaving the bumper stock.

Not to be a butthole, but if you had the capability all along to cut steel and make your own......... why did you bother asking for options?

Well when I got to really see the prices I then decided to build my own. Even the kits are ridiculously expensive .

I understand, I wish I had my dad's pipefitter skills, id do the same as well.

If you dont mind me asking, how much are you dropping in steel? Ive always been curious how much the materials in metal cost.

Oh man can’t answer that… I do construction mostly residential. I have steal from previous jobs. My buddy brought me some as well. I know it’s high af right now . I’ll have to price it out so I can give an estimate..
I’m using 3” square tube with 1/8 sheet metal to fill in . I’ll take picks as I go
