Someone out there, I’m sure, is willing to buy it for that price.

LOL. Some idiot will pay it.
Dealerships are a bunch of crocks, I hope Tesla challenges this and wins in the end.
Nothing but parasites, making people’s life’s even more expensive than they need to be.
Whoever set that markup, I hope you choke on big (insert preferred color here) d|ck.

You know, I don't really know what to think on this. For a new car, they have MSRP as a guide and shouldn't go above it. Anything above msrp is a markup.

But this is used. Used cars don't have an MSRP. They only have market value. And the market value on these is high. I checked the kbb value of a '21 Pro and it was 62-64k. Add the Lunar Rock color and the fact that it's a dealer, how far off are they, really?

It's insane that market value is this high, but it really is.

Crazy prices on used and new markups of premium = Rip off . If your not paying MSRP don’t , I have seen dealers as high as 30k on a new markup is insane .
There are dealers not taking advantage of people , just have to shop around if you really need to buy right now , I think in a few months once interest rates go up and semi conductor shortage is milked out for all its worth the prices will stabilize , the dealers that took advantage will lose customers , there just scumbag dealers .

I can imagine how someone will feel after paying extra 20K and if started complain like me about the annoying exhaust sound, wind noise from the roof rack, not good tires, not so good suspension (Not too bad), etc...

We all need to learn to lower our standards now after the last year. This is the new norm of paying more not just for cars but most consumer products.

Again we need to lower our standards and expect less purchasing power with our money. This is the new economy and nothing is going to change now for at least a few years. Not only will the vehicle cost you more initially but the cost to fuel it will, the cost of fuel for your home this winter will, the cost of food will and the list goes on.

I just hope that I don’t need a car or truck anytime soon because I just refuse to pay these prices.

If somebody wants to pay 25 to 40% more for a used car then be my guest.

I also hope that people remember and pay back all the dealers who are doing this right now by not giving them business.

I paid $2,000 extra and although the annoying exhaust persists I have become accustom to it. I don't notice the wind noise from the roof rack, but do think it is ugly and not ideally functional. The tires appear to be fine! Eight months and 13,000 miles later I am still really digging it and pleased with the choice!

I have already lowered my expectations, previously invoice pricing was my expectation, now MSRP. Are dealerships paying more for their vehicles from the manufacture? I doubt it. They just have less to sell, which let’s also factor in the savings from not financing all those cars typically on the lot.

I do expect MSRP to jump drastically soon.

Since my TRD ORP was fairly well build (tires and suspension) I might be expecting too much from TRD Pro.

The roof rack definitely looks good. So far I havn't found any good solution to mount traction boards or hi-lift jack. So far they live in the cargo area and does not take too much space.

For someone who don't even like crossbars on regular roof rack this might give wind noise. We don't even open our windows when we travel.:D:D

I changed the tires with few hundred miles on them as I didn't like how it handled mud and especially here in CO if I don't have winter rated tires I would be asking trouble on crazy highways like i70. I got good amount of money for the stock tires as it was almost brand new.

Reject your premise in its entirety.

The only way the arrogance that much of the supply side has become, the pathetic standards of which desperate hiring of both the service and manufacturing economies has enabled, is by accepting them as the new norm/lowering our collective standards.

Will goods/services permanently cost more than a few years ago? Most certainly, wage inflation is here to stay. Materials that require labor to produce will as well. The Covid price premium/inexcusable service excuses have mostly run there courses in my area, folks/businesses are pushing back.

Will we shrug our shoulders and accept a new 4Runner built to 1980's big three quality, nicer restaurant fare/service on par with the same era of Denny's, better hotels providing a Super 8 experience?

Only if we collectively say okay.

    Supply and demand example:
There is a Toyota dealership in St. George, UT, with no Toyota car or truck in the showroom and no new 4R in stock recently. What did they have in the showroom? Two Ford Broncos with a bunch more outside. They got them on some sort of consignment, and there is a Ford dealership across the road:)

Wade Toyota. I was in there on the 4th for service. Guy said the Broncos were in some sort of auction. One had sold for about $80K. The others looked more off road (I don't know anything about Broncos) and were going for over $100K. There were no stickers on them.

And I thought the people who were paying $6000 over MSRP for PT cruisers when they first came out were idiots.

I watched a news story the other day detailing about how 60% of inflation is just corporations marking up prices because they can. The beef industry for example, the ranchers are getting the same if not less money than pre-pandemic, but the four big companies that corner the market have jacked prices way up for profit.

Already headed down it and dug in like a tick! Incrementalism has been passing it right under our noses little by little for decades. Just look at the size of almost anything around your house: bar of soap, a Pop Tart, tube of toothpaste, bag of chips, hamburger buns, etc etc etc. You are still paying the same price (normal inflation-adjusted) for all that stuff that we did 20 years ago, but now you get half the product for the $ paid. The fine print at the bottom tells the truth. i.e. $0.27 per oz. et al I bought a BRAND NEW 1993 Z71 for $16,900, a brand new Tacoma Prerunner in 2000 for $13,000! Even $40k for a truck to me seems ridiculous. $60k is more than I paid for my first house on an acre!!!
