    Happy new year.

I would like to mount a front camera but the only place that seems viable, and visibly pleasing, is under the TOYOYA lip, just above the radar panel (2020 TRD Pro). Anyone try this?

I may mount it without wiring and see if it causes an issue with the cruise control.

It does not cause any issues with the sensor in that location and gives a good picture of what you want to see.

kwill / Green4runner, did you have to remove the front bumper to install? Many thanks for your feedback.

No, just measured and drilled but it was a PITA to get done with the bumper on.

If you do try with the bumper on, you’ll have a hard time getting the bolt on to bolt the camera behind the name plate.

It's doable without removing the front bumper but I recommend taking off the upper grill at least.

David (@SunnyTRD), I've had a number of customers install their FRAC Harness camera at that location with no reported problems. The Natika camera is a great choice in terms of "Bang for the Buck" and the FRAC Harness kit is now available with the OEM-Style Camera switch at a new reduced price. You can check it out at www.fracharness.com.

Seems like a good place to put the camera. What kind of view do you get on the screen with the camera down low?

can you flip the front camera upside down(so you can mount on top of a bumper)?

Yes. The Natika camera usually has a White, Green, and Purple wire loop. Cutting the purple loop will orient the video for top mount "sitting" installation.

This is from the initial video I tested on 2018 TRD ORP.After this initial video marked both left and right tire line so its easy for me on tire placement without a spotter.

For 2021 TRD Pro I'm using a cheap wireless camera with display from Amazon. Too bad I don't have a pic of the view. Two white lines are for me to show the tire line.

Definitely wouldn't recommend putting it here if you plan on doing any wheeling or snow driving. That'd have been ripped off 1000x for me.

I had good success like the others above the sensor. Definitely a PITA to get that nut on in that spot, but doable with some finagling. Taking the bumper off gives you way more access for sure.

If I replace the camera, or even before then, I'd like to put another cable disconnect somewhere closer to the camera because now when I take the bumper off I gotta disconnect further upstream and fish the wire out which is annoying.

Are the trailgridpro and r4t kits essentially the same? In the r4t video he seems to be able to install the front camera without much difficulty and without removing the front bumper or the grill

For me its a good thing to have it there because I know if I hit the camera I will be going no where. So it is my warning to turn back.

    None at the moment
Removing the front bumper would make it easier to install. I did not remove the bumper so it was a bit more of a challenge.

If the snow is that high and compact strong enough to break the camera I will more likely to high center. :)

And the camera is just 30 bucks. I take better view vs chance of damage.:)

Just under the valance is pretty good enough for my kind of driving..:)

I like the view I get with it mounted higher. But, to each his own.

Agreed. I like being able to see the front of the 4Runner, the hoop and recovery points, in the edge of the view.
