Boy, does that bring back some memories!

My unit went to Angeles City, Clark Air base, on deployment, not long before Mt. Pinatubo went off and destroyed it. We weren't there when it did it's dirty deed but it was a couple months after we left.
Clark is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL base. Or was, anyway. Only trouble with it was the chow hall I used. Great food! I overate badly. I had to extra workouts to get the friggen weight off. Thankfully, it was so beautiful, that a long run went by before you noticed it. The local people they used as chefs were soooooo good.
By the same token, the street food available in town was just as good. Obviously, the chow hall was the cheapest, but the street food was just as tasty, and the conversion rate, at 20 pesos/dollar made it pretty easy to get all you wanted.

I won't speak about the lonely American women on base...

lol that's hilarious!! The volcano center you see there is Taal Volcano in Tagaytay, coincidentally it erupted for the first time in 40+ years a month after we left in December 2020.

I hope you get the chance to go again. Manila only gets more chaotic, but Angeles City is a nice refuge. And the food is awesome!

 

Me too!
Last time I was there as 86, though. I doubt I'll get a chance again, but ya never know what the future may hold.

Brown Trout may be a hybrid. I know they are stocking Tiger trout in one spot. Sat is Heritage day. Stocking Friday then it’s on at 9am sat!

 

That’s a good kitty. One visits my driveway now and then with socks.

 

We have three kitties living IN our house, several feral cats living under our house, a skunk or two in a drain pipe in our driveway, a few jackrabbits (may be jackalopes in shedding phase, I'm not sure), and a very large cougar that stops by every couple of years and looks through the sliding glass door for a while. We even have some deer that come by in winter to eat the grass of our back lawn, and rest up in a fairly safe, fenced in area.

Coyotes in the area (there seems to be an abundance of Acme items), red-tail hawks and eagles, so forth all around us. Beautiful countryside. Not to mention a gorgeous view.
