Ok I have had too much time on my hands this Holiday season and it has got me a thinking or more so a wanting that is to Do what so many of us want or I know several of you have already Done.

And that is to actually Retire.. Got my Boat, Don't have that Retirement location settled on, have the 4Runner <------ One awesome machine it is. have way too much stuff so I plan on selling most of it off (not a hoarder just collected several high value desirable items) willing to sell house and relocate as long as the location has Fishing and that is edible fishing with camping.

And I after all this Don't even know where to start.... holy crap.

I retired at the end of Jan 2020 with big plans but unfortunately covid kicked in and then my wife fell and broke her hip. The surgeon did a horrible job fixing her and after getting a hip replacement 7 months later, a serious bone infection set in. She spent 2 months in the hospital fighting it. That is gone but she is crippled for now. So all our plans are on hold until we can find a surgeon willing to fix her. We have a lead on one but have to wait until late February to see him. Hopefully by then, this covid crap will be on the way out. Good luck to you. It has been great not having to go to work and listen to all the bitching and whining I used to hear everyday.

I’m seriously considering traveling outside the US. I’m probably 5 years out but Ecuador is looking like the first jumping off point. Sell everything my kids don’t want and bounce around South America and the Caribbean. I never, ever want to own another house or property. Condo on the beach. Condo in the mountains. Repeat.

I like this I have traveled a lot so I do not have a big wanderlust and if I decide for a property ownership Just a Shack will do out of the weather when needed and a place to park the boat nothing real fancy just plain don't need that. just have Internet (I'm good at selling things online) location to BBQ where no one complains about that damn smoke again from his cooking that would mean a fridge for Ice and that cool beverage. Not a lot just a place to get grounded before the next who knows what.

Just a thought, in case of selling the house, downsize all your stuff, hire an agent to handle the rental business and let it fund your travels via Air BnB/VRBO guests. I did this in 2019 and the guests I had in just 8 months paid my mortgage for the year, funded me traveling for over 6 months (Texas to San Diego via CO/UT/NV, then TX to Key West via TN/NC) and there was enough left over to cover new mattresses, sheets, furniture with the intent of repeating the process in 2020. Then covid… BUT the plan is to do it again this year for at least a few months. Something to think about. It is pretty easy, very lucrative and your assests are paying you…as it should be.

Now that is a very attractive Idea, After reading this I checked on the Rentals here and the BnB/VRBO for this area and it is red hot due to lack of available and Military Base Near by that is compounded by the fact that much of it around here is also HOA <---- Never ever for me.

Yep. It does not really matter where it is, somebody wants to rent it. After getting into the business a bit and talking with others, truthfully you can build a teepee in your back yard with an air mattress, water hose and a 5 gallon bucket for a toilet and as long as it has internet, someone is going to rent it (people have actually done exactly that). Mine stayed rented out real close to 100% of the days I had it available on just Air BnB, not even using both sites. I got into it inadvertently during a family emergency, had to shut down my business and leave for several months, and it kept the lights on during that. I saw the benefits and rolled it right into my business plan/retirement plan. Last time I hired a maid and a local kid to keep the grass cut before I took off and managed it all myself with my cell phone. This time I am hiring an agent to handle all of it so all I have to do is check my bank account once a month to see what I made. I will not profit as much, but sometimes way out in CO, UT, TN finding cell service to check on a guest or activate the maid or something took a pretty long drive. Just an unnecessary diversion if you are out there to escape. If you have any questions or concerns or want some insider tips, hit me up. I am still learning, but there are plenty of good mentors out there. It is a booming business. Congrats on retiring!
