    Hi all,

I’ve been having a hard time tracking down 5.0mm or < chains and was wondering if anyone had recommendations? Trying to stay away from cables if that’s possible, but open to suggestions and experiences.

I myself am holding off for my T4R because I will likely change my tires out (stock dunlops rn). These would be for my mother-in-law who has an 18’ ORP w/ toyo AT2 (stock size) and she wants to get chains for it. She’s a realtor here and has properties here in the mountain communities, looking to have them if CHP asks and in case she really feels she needs them.

    Too many….Is that a thing?
I would have her go to Les Schwab and get a set of the ez fit chains. They will show her how to install them and they can be returned in the spring if unused. It’s the chain I always recommend to inexperienced for ON Road chains only.

edit.. I have no affiliation with LS.

Thank you, I’ll have to take a trip down to my local Les Schwab to check these out.

    No OFF-road recommendations?

For off-road, you need to run a heavy duty chain like peerless. Those will last years but they are heavy, bulky, and not ideal unless don’t mind more effort and probably getting wet/ dirty to install. I used to own log trucks, so I had to throw iron 2-3x a day in winter on way too many occasions. Personally I carry peerless but have only used chains on road 1x in a vehicle and that was required even with 4x4 over the Siskiyou Mts. 30 years ago.
