I'm not scared about airtags, its the trackers that don't alert me of their presence that scare me. Funny how small trackers that were better suited for this nefarious use (like Tile) existed before the airtag, yet it took Apple making one of their own for it to really take off.

And Apple said several times that it had built in features to prevent this sort of use. Some really low brow criminals out there, don't even understand how their new tool works before deploying it.

I'm personally more concerned with implications for stalking, domestic violence, etc. Cars are insured.

So, if Inunderstand correctly, these tags work by connecting via Bluetooth to random people's iPhones, and forces whoever's phone to transmit location information back to the tag owner? How are people not seeing this as a possible privacy issue and why is this product allowed to exist? Also, why do so many people have their GPS and Bluetooth turned on all the time?

This is why I always turn all this new technology stuff off, I don’t need people tracking everything I do. Even when I bought my new 4 runner I declined 3 data logging things that transmits everything I do in my 4 runner apparently to Toyota. It’s creepy. + they want you to pay for the data!

You turn Bluetooth off, but is it really off?

I have no clue how that works on this new vehicle, I assume it’s always on. I haven’t tinkered with connecting my phone to it yet I just picked it up. But all the data you have to ‘consent’ to I declined.
