    Hey friends!
I just took delivery of my ‘22 ORP last night.
The dealership did a lift and installed 285’s as well as new bumpers, so they had to reconnect all the electrical stuff.

Well, my Toyota app is showing an error in the pre collision system…. I showed the sales girl when I took delivery but she seemed pretty convinced that it would go away after driving a bit.

Would you take it down and have them check that everything is hooked up properly today or drive for a bit and see if the error message goes away?

I’d certainly take it back if it’s still there. I’m not too familiar with the newer electronics, but maybe wipe down the TSS sensor in case they got something in it.

Definitely take it in. It won’t go away and your cruise won’t work among other things if you have any dash lights. I have the same issue post lift but I don’t have all the weight from bumpers, winch, etc. installed yet from what I spec’s the lift for. Keep us updated as I haven’t found any guarantee fix in my research yet.

When I did the grill swap on my Tundra I left the battery connected when I disconnected the TSS radar sensor. Figured with the truck off it would never notice. Well after starting the truck it would get the same Tss error. I tried everything to get it to go away. Drove it for a week, disconnected the battery over night. I finally got my hands on Techstream and was able to reset the Tss. It's not a calibration, it must do something else. After that it worked just fine. Been driving it for almost two years without issue. I would not rely on the error going out, I would have them reset it.

It’s brand new, not working properly, it’s up to the dealership and Toyota to make it right, not you driving around hoping it works itself out. I am sure you paid a premium for the mods, they need to be 100% CORRECT and WORKING.

No dash lights or anything- I checked the system via the car and it’s not showing errors. Just the Toyota app

It won’t show a code from a scan gauge either. Does that message show the dash screen itself?

When I click it in the app it only tells me to schedule a service. I’ve sent a message to another guy at the dealership. I may just stop by for peace of mind. Bass pro is across the street so maybe make a morning of it lol

I unhooked the sensor when I installed my SSO Bumper.Forgot to plug it back in and when I started it I got a bunch of dash lights.Plugged the sensor back in and everything is fine accept the Toyota app sent me a message almost immediately telling me I need to service it.Must be the 4runner sent the message to Toyota there is a problem. The only problem was I just didn't plug it back in.

Toyota dude says I need to recalibrate TSS after lift. I will be there today to make that happen.

Wait, wait, wait.. Is this just a notification that popped up on your Toyota app? Or is this an error light on your dash? If it's on the App it's probably was from them doing the work and trigger this, then they reset it. If you aren't getting a light or warning message on the dash I wouldn't worry about it.

Toyota dude said his tundra gave the same message after lift in the app, but not on the dash and the recalibration fixed it.

I am "Tundra dude". I misinterpreted what you wrote. I thought you were getting a dash light. If it only exists in the app, I would not worry about it. My code displayed on the dash, never even showed up in the app.

What new bumper is that, that required electronics to be disconnected? I guess I am not seeing it in the dark photo...the only difference between the "Pro bumper" and a OR bumper is the black valance. Is that it, and if so, I suppose they removed the bumper to replace the valance...?

    Does dash show any errors?
If yes - I'm not driving it home.
Else if its only mobile app showing that I would restart the mobile and give it a day or so with driving about 20-30 miles. Also see if re-installing the app to see if any error is cached.
May be its the same bumper and only valance and grill is changed vs changing the entire bumper and now the radar sensor id is different and TSS-P system does not recognize the new sensor? Not sure.

If its lifted by dealer I would definitely get a formal confirmation of TSS-P re-calibration written on the bill. I'm thinking worse case scenario if the TSS-P decided to apply hard brake on a low height bridge and had a rear end collision you are almost safe from a legal mess. Or radar cruise control malfunction or things of that nature.

Again, this is what I would do if it was my vehicle. I'm someone who made a big fuss on a collision repair and seeing warnings on dash and few other problems. I dropped the keys on dealership service managers desk and walked away not accepting the vehicle. Reported to Toyota corporation for giving me an unsafe vehicle to drive. You pay extra $$$ for a dealer to get things done correctly vs after market shop. Then you should get a result just like from Toyota factory. Others may disagree.

I'm also interested to see what lift dealer installed and what is your reason for that lift. Eg if they installed Icon / King / Redflo what is your reason to get that over a different kit? The reason to ask that is I've seen some window sticker show $5000 / $8000 for a spacer lift and few other minor add-ons like tint, clear bra, etc..

I’m actually not sure what lift was installed. I believe they said it’s a bilstein but they didn’t give me a choice, it was what the package offered included. They checked the calibration at the dealership and it has already been done, the app still just showing the error from previously. No codes or errors on actual car.

I've learnt that from my collision repair incident. Toyota dealership I was in has no idea even about the most common SPC UCA. See the difference between Left & Right..

Bilstein is a good setup. They have entry level and high end options. They are pretty common and good. Many members run them. Congrats on your new ride. Have fun..

    Hi OP,

Sounds like you have it sorted out. Ironically I just picked up my identical truck (in silver), dealer also did a lift (Icon Stage 3 with UCA's etc) and 285's along with the TRD Pro grill like yours. I have not bothered to look into the app yet, but I have noticed that the TSS sensor light on the dash pops on time to time, one time it asked me to clean the sensor. Also had the same issue on our prior stock Tacoma. Just my $0.02, but don't freak out if you see that light time to time (especially in rain). Personally, I do not use the self driving/radar cruise in any of the cars (my S8 almost killed me when it decided to slam the brakes for a hummingbird in its path) so I pay no mind to the warning at all. If it doesnt go away, that's what warranty is for.

What I can potentially do is provide some future relief to the anxiety I had with my ORP 100 miles in. It developed some pretty annoying "thuds/rattles/clunks". Took it to the dealer and they re-torqued all of the bolts in the suspension due to the lift. The service manager told me that sales should have told me to come at 100 miles to do this, which of course they failed to tell me. Retorqued the bolts and all is well. Also, the service manager told me that re-torquing the suspension is included in each service, so all you have to do is ask when you drop off the car and they will do it, but if you don't ask, they likely won't.

Enjoy your new 4Runner, talk about Happy New Year's to you!!!!
