I’d trade in my 2017 taco for it. But I want 50k for my taco.

I’m glad the bay area isn’t the only place where people are being ripped off for a 20 year old platform.

I wish eternal misery for all the dealers who are screwing people over for a quick buck right now.

    May they get ass herpes.

I'm a broken record on this mark-up nonsense by now, but if the buyers stop paying the mark ups the dealers will stop marking up. It take two to tango and while the dealer is being greedy it wouldn't matter if there weren't buyers being desperate.

I don't think car dealers can get as shity as insurance companies and injury attorneys. Those two are the worst of humanity

True, but if you are selling your car or home, are you selling to the highest bidder or will you be sure to take thousands less because it's the right thing to do?

I’m not in the business of selling cars and I don’t have a contract with a manufacturer.

OK, so if you run a business selling on ebay, do you sell to the highest bidder or not? And the contract doesn't matter because nothing in there dictates how much the dealer charges.

Shitty or not, everybody complaining about high prices will do the same thing when it comes to selling their own stuff.

Cars are fine. But we need to draw the line of morality somewhere, you cannot sell bread and other food items at five times the price no matter what

OK, but markups on cars is what this thread is about, and even if my analogy wasn't that specific, the point remains that people who complain about dealer markups on cars have no problem with the recent huge increases in used car values when it's their turn to sell. The same is true for houses and most everything else. That's the whole point, people ARE complaining about the morality of others while avoiding subjecting their own morality to the same scrutiny.

Ya'll are the reason these prices are going sky high, all these prices are ridiculous. People are out there think they're getting a "good deal" because the salesman told them so lmao. $70k for a 4runner, go get a Land Cruiser lol.

Car dealers lobby Congress for the right to rip you off so you can’t buy directly from the manufacturer. So far only Elon has managed to bypass this.

I’m not going to weep for them.

I'm not weeping for them either. I'm a tough customer when it comes to grinding out the best deal possible and the dealer is playing the same game. It just so happens that they have the upper hand right now due to supply issues. That will hopefully change soon enough.

Dealers are not paying any more for the vehicles, just getting less than normal. So MSRP is already marked up and adding to their profit.

This dealership is still selling at MSRP if you have the patience to wait for the car. If you don't have the patience, then they will rip you apart

I will be patiently waiting for my 2022 when I order it. The guy at this dealership also promised me that he will try to expedite it for me. He knew my situation and why I gave them my 4Runner back.

This dealership knew I was pounding my 4Runner, I was sending them pictures :p But they still didn't rob me while taking it back from me. I like these guys. Though they must have robbed the next buyer :D I think they were asking for $57k plus sales tax and other stuff

@Thatbassguy Life is short man. Save up a million dollars for gas, this summer drive your 4R to Northern Cali, Yosimite then to Oregon, to WA and through Montana and Idaho and Utah back to home. Stop in Colorado too.

I'd love to take a road trip like that! I must be in the wrong business, because it would take me several lifetimes to save up that kind of money.
