Unfortunately I’m no longer driving the 4runner. My wife has started driving it full time. We’re expecting our first child in February and her small sedan wasn’t big enough to put a stroller and dogs in so we made the decision to trade in the car and for her to start driving the 4runner. I’ll still be around lurking though.

You new baby is a gift from God. A far better treasure than a 4R. And you can still go exploring with the whole family.

Congrats on the first kid. It is an exciting experience. So my wife and I had a 2011 Tundra crewmax 2wd and I traded it in for my wife to get a van (2015 Honda Odyssey). Anyways nothing but problems with the Honda when it came to the A/C and in Arizona you don’t want to mess around with that and kids. It was supposedly fixed and I bought a 4Runner for me and my family to go exploring. Then we decided to move to North Carolina. So I permanently fixed the Honda A/C by trading it in for the top of the line Toyota Sienna. She is happy and I get the 4Runner. Interesting fact whenever she goes out she takes the 4Runner. Starting to wonder if we need to get another 4Runner so she can leave mine alone. ;)

    thank you! I will be

Very true! Thankfully the wife let me get a equally capable vehicle for its replacement.

thank you! This was planned out, I had put a deposit on a Tacoma pro, but found out I would be waiting till 2023 for it due to the dealers list. So I went with a 2022 offroad premium Tacoma. Picked it up last Saturday.

    :p Lol.

she was looking at vans before we made the decision on the 4runner. Thankfully she decided not to go that route. Sounds like you guys need another runner. Maybe you gift her yours and you get a new one lol.

I’ll still be lurking and posting!

Congratulations on the pending new arrival.

I'll be very interested in your assessment of the Tacoma vs the 4R...there's quite a few members on here that traded in their Taco to get a 4R, mostly because of the auto tranny...is yours an auto or manual tranny?

I checked to see if there's a new member on TW that goes by @Antman...:D

    thanks everyone

I actually traded in my 17’ taco for the 4runner. There two completely different vehicles and I prefer the 4runner overall but I didn’t want two 4runners and having a bed again is nice. Ive already used it a few times.

and I’m a 4 year member on Tacomaworld! Lol. Once I install my mods on the Tacoma this week I may do a “I’m back again” thread lol.

I have a 1st gen Tacoma, but would gladly trade it and her car to upgrade if I could talk my wife into driving the 4R. She has no interest, says it's way too big for her to feel comfortable driving it.

I’ve had a couple of both and never experienced what most people say. I had a manual 2016, auto 2019 , and recently got a auto 2022 Tacoma and none of them have ever had issues. The harder you drive one the worse they act, but there is no reason to ever do that for regular driving. I haven’t driven a newer 5th gen in a while but I had a 2013 I don’t think that much has changed in driving feeling since then.

I couldn’t find a picture of the 2016, but it was a silver TRD sport.
