    Hi all,
Picked up my new 2022 Off Road Premium a few weeks ago, and installed my 2nd Gen Morimoto Amber DRL LED headlights yesterday. They look great, and perform well.

However - when I activate high beams, nothing happens. I hear a "click", but the intensity doesn't change.

    - I've checked all my cables and confirmed connections are seated properly
    - I tried two different fuse locations; the EFI #2 slot (per Morimoto instructions) and the empty 10A slot used in 2014-2019 4Runners

Any recommendations or ideas for me to problem solve? Anyone else with a 2020+ 4Runner run into the same issue?

    Thanks for the help.

I’m also wanting to figure this out. Just installed it in the wife’s 22 and the high beams are the only issue

are you having problems when you switch them into DRL mode only? Bc only the passenger side is turning on until I switch it to the clearance lights. Which is odd. I have them on the EFI 2 slot in the fuse box designated for the 22 model.

Everything on the lights are functioning well other than the high beams and having to adjust the projection pattern
For the DRL fuse tap, I have it In the 10amp injection slot.

Oh you didn’t try the EFI 2 slot? That’s what was recommended on the instructions so I figured I had to use only that one.

I remember when I bought mine for my ‘19 it said something about 2021+ models needing some special adapter..did you guys get that? Not sure if that’s the cause of your high beam issue or not.

Any resolution to this? I’ve installed the Morimoto Second Gen headlights on my 2022 TRD ORP and I also do not have high beams or DRL. I tried checking all connections as well as unhooking the negative battery connection for 4 hours.

Actually qick detail update on my end. Just moved to the EFI 2 slot and it appears the headlight DLRs are only working on my passenger side.

Also when I turn on my lights it looks like very briefly my passenger high beams come on.

Hey guys, so got in contact with morimoto. They stated that all three bulbs turn on as that is the new feature of that headlight model. If you switch to high beams it won’t necessarily change much & you’d only notice it if you test it out in front of your garage door.

also, @Exmod i have the same exact issues & model of truck & they said I had the wrong adapters sent. They were nice enough to ship me the adapters for the trd pro & limited models instead. So As soon as I get them I’m gonna switch them out & see if that fixes it & let ya know

    Thanks for the response @floresjuarez.

I was testing the headlights up against a wall. I see them pop to what I think is high beams for a split second whenever I turn on the lights.

I’m curious what adapter is wrong for you. Is it a situation where the plugs don’t fit or do they hook in correctly and just don’t work? All of mine hooked in well and it came with the adapter for the 2022 plug that doesn’t line up. How could you tell you had the wrong adapter?

I’m also seeing only one light show DRL now that I’m in the EFI2 fuse. Did you see anything similar?

I purchased my light through 4runnerLifestyle.

I really appreciate you following up and I look forward to hearing if you can resolve the issue.

Yeah purchased mine thru 4runner lifestyle too. i got in contact with the morimoto directly, explained & showed videos of what was going on. I had sent them pics of the adapter I received & they were like “yeah I think you got the wrong ones”. But everything was plugged & connected well. So we’ll see if this switch up helps & np.

also yeah, when I’m in the efi2 slot, only the passenger side turns on when I’m switched to DRL & then both turn on when I switch to clearance lights which is weird.

Oh wow, thank you @floresjuarez. It’s comforting to know we have the same exact symptoms. I’m diving into this without any experience so I was worried I messed up :)

I’ll contact Morimoto as well and potentially reference this thread.

I had this exact issue on my ‘22 Pro (high beams were always on). I know with the pro there is a different harness, bit my problem was that the harnesses were left and right side. I swapped them and was good to go. My right side (passenger) harness only had one wire for the high beam connector. I wonder if yours is the same….88A2CDD3-D39C-4188-8E11-5855F6A298D8.jpg

yeah I switched mine around but it didn’t help. The morimoto guy did say the adapters for the pro version are side specific so yeah makes sense

Not sure if my fix will be your fix. I purchased mines thru theretrofitsource.com with Limited/TRD Pro adapters. I had an issue with the DRL staying on in the off position and startup sequence coming on randomly after arming. My fix was running the setup without the DRL tap harness and works perfectly fine and normal is it should.

I read this and immediately ran out to my garage, yanked out the adapters and swapped their sides. Nothing changed but I was excited for a second there :)

Yo, so I finally got the new adapter that is specific for the trd pro / limited models & it works great. The high beams and the DRLs. I guess it was just a matter of switching the adapter

    hope this helps

Hey everybody. Got this resolved. After working with my dealer and Morimoto, it appears that all models for 2022 need the TRD Pro/Limited lighting harness. As soon as I installed those, headlights functioned as expected. Low beam, high beam, and DRL, all operating as they should. Don’t forget to move the fuse to EFI 2.

Ay, so is anyone having trouble with the DRLs turning on randomly for like 30 sec or so?

i have the add a fuse on the EFI 2 slot. But I just find it odd it’s turning on randomly. The truck is also off so idk why it would turn on.
Probably happens every 10 min or so.

I remember reading the efi2 fuse gets power randomly, that is why why I tapped a fuse in the cab. I couldn’t find one that was a true acc power.
