30 years in storage, new battery, no juice

Hey, all. New to the forum, just getting my forerunner out of storage. Back window is down and I may need to leave her out in the weather for a short period of time. Trying to get power to raise the window, installed new battery, no juice. No juice anywhere in the vehicle. Any suggestions on where to start?

 

Any chance it was left where rodents could get to it and chew the harness while it was in storage? I would first check the physical wires running from the battery, I doubt every fuse is broken but check them too. Make sure that the ground points are connected, and the terminals on the battery aren't so corroded that its blocking current.

If you have to leave it outside, I would get a car cover. I doubt the almost 40 year old weather stripping is still good. If its going it the sun, get a sunshade if it has an intact dashboard. Give everything a good cleaning before you try moving it, dust, leaves, rodent remains might be in places that they could cause damage or fire. Drain all fluids (I mean ALL fluids) since they aren't good after that long, don't try starting the engine without draining and adding new fuel. Also make sure rubber belts are at least intact before cranking, you will at least be replacing all the belts (dont forget the belt in the stereo if it has the original) and tires, weather stripping is also a good thing to change.

 

If you just need to leave it outside pull the panel off the tail gate and run jumper wires to the window motor and then to 12V. My back window in my first gen never worked from the switch. I only rolled it down when I took the top off and this is how I got it down.

 

What 4scooter19 said works great I have done it before, I am not very good with the electrical part I have tried a few things to get my rear window to work and I am failing, I will probably take it to a guy to look at it that I trust, funny thing though when the red rear gate light on the dash is on the window will go up and down so it's just a short.
