    Hi All,

New here and I'm currently waiting on a '22 ORP to arrive in a couple of weeks. It looks like it is currently at the port but something I noticed just today (I've been checking every day) is that some of the options showing up on the "guest.dealer.toyota.com" page and associated API have changed and the MSRP is now less than it was before due to some of the options having been removed. Does anybody know if this is common? Could it be that those options are out of stock and the vehicle will arrive without them? The two options that are missing now are the TRD Pro black wheel package and the blackout emblems.

I'm going to give a shout out to the dealership tomorrow but I figured I'd ask about it here to see if anybody else has experienced this.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. The interesting thing is that the page has been showing these options for my VIN for as long as I've been checking, but just today they disappeared. According to the dealer it arrived at port a week or so ago, so I'm just curious about the sudden change. Thanks again.

Just as an update in case anybody else runs into this. Based on the discussion I had with the dealership, it sounds like some items are not currently available to be installed at the port so rather than keeping the vehicles there waiting, they are sending them to the dealerships without the options and leaving it up to the dealership to order from a local/regional distributor. The specific options that are going to be missing from mine upon arrival to the dealership are the Black TRD Wheel Package, Dual USB Power Ports, and Blackout Emblem Overlays. The dealership has indicated that the black wheel package is on national back order but the other two should be able to be installed by them when the vehicle arrives.

just something to keep in mind. i believe port installed options carry no install charge. a dealer might ask for labor costs. considering your situation, i'd make sure they don't charge a fee to install since the port was unable to (and would have been free).

Thanks for the heads-up. That is something that popped into my mind after I called them yesterday, so I will definitely discuss that with them.

This is a good thing, you are saving some cash, just wait a bit and find your own, you will be happy with the savings.

I wonder if this is why the port options seem to be overpriced.

Certainly possible. I knew a guy a few years back that bought a new CX5. He wanted the roof rails, but didn't want the extra cost when he bought the vehicle (figuring he'd add them a few months down the road). When he finally went back to inquire about them at the Mazda dealer it would have been more expensive to have them put on there because they were going to add the labor charge.

My thinking is, that the yotat price includes port install costs, and that's just gravy money when we buy the part through yota dealerships.

i mean, adding a fee to toss in all-weather mats? that's just crazy.

most dealers make money from their parts/service department, used car sales and tacking points onto the interest rate. new car sales don' t give much profit anymore, aside from rare hard to get vehicles and the current distorted market. that's why the finance guys are so pushy (gotta make it up somewhere).

I had something similar happen with a Porsche I ordered a while back.

I wanted a trailer hitch for a bike carrier and a set of wheels they didn’t have in stock.

They also either offered to change my build or have a dealer do it for me, and the dealer would charge for labor for all of these things so I didn’t get either one of them.

Ditto here. 4Runner is supposed to be here in January and the build sheet just dropped the TRD Pro wheels and some other options. I was okay with the TRD wheels, but the rest was all junk I would've never requested on my own.
Perfectly happy with the Off Road stock wheels as well.

Uh are the actual pros affected? I mean no offense to those that bought other trim levels and added them, but save those wheels and tires for those of us that actually purchased a pro… I’m going to be kind of pissed if mine shows up without them.

I'm sure they're prioritizing those for the actual Pros since they are standard equipment. It's only options that are being removed (so far).
