    Hi,
Good to be here. I need to definitely learn, because this is my first ever 4Runner and first off road vehicle.
I want to pull my 4500# camper to some beautiful places and enjoy some scenic moderate trails. This is my daily driver also, so I have to keep it enjoyable and capable. looking for any input on the best balance to do these things.
For instance, Should I lift, is it necessary, should I stay stock and just add some AT tires, winch, lights?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

Welcome! 4,500 is quite a bit. Is that dry weight or loaded? If that is dry weight…that is a lot. Yes, max is 5,000. Understand that that figure means the truck will be working its ass off to pull it pretty much the whole time.
Having pulled a 3,600 pounder from coast to coast a couple times and north to south with a 2012 4Runner, you should stick with lightweight mods. Tow it a good ways in various conditions up and down some mountains before adding any substantial weight. Some lift is fine, but don’t go too nuts on tires. Unsprung weight will have more affect than sprung, especially when towing, plus the change of gear ratio with taller tires is not favorable for towing.
Your very first mod, if you have not already done so, should be to get a load leveling hitch with anti-sway. It will keep your camper rock solid behind your truck even in high winds. It is really a safety necessity that may very well save your life.
