For a 4runner TRD OR Premium...

    1) KDSS
    2) Black out wheel package with some other bells...

Trd Pro wheels with Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires. Ceramic window tint. LED lights. Frontrunner 3/4 roof rack. Alpharex Luxx Headlights. Morimoto XB amber fog lights. Bilstein 5100 shocks front set at 1.75 and rear with a 1" cornfed spacer.
If you want KDSS, then get that. You can always add wheels later. KDSS, not so much

The KDSS seems to complicate mods like suspension and skid plates, so would think about that and do some research

I chose KDSS. It’s so much easier to do the rest yourself. It’s quite impossible to engineer your own KDSS.

I wanted to mod the vehicle at some point and didn't want to the hassle of the KDSS system.

I personally don't feel the need for KDSS and pay that extra $$$. Easier to mod in the future and one less thing to worry about. The PRO's never came equipped with it... if I wanted better handling, I'd get a Porsche and take those corners at 60mph. It's a great system and well engineered by toyota though.

Black wheels flows with any color and easier to resell.

What do you plan to do with the vehicle? I would rather have the factory installed KDSS over the port (self installable) installed overpriced black out stuff. In fact, that's exactly what I am currently trying to get.

get the KDSS, better on road and off road handling. Honestly, the Limited, if you like the looks, would be a better option.

I haven't driven both but I wanted KDSS. Yes I know full well there can be issues with it but I can work on it.

My dealer offered me their "Pro Pack" which included blacking out all the emblems, front and rear lower bumper covers and the Pro front grill.

It cost me $1000 and it was rolled into the vehicle cost. You can do it cheaper yourself but I didn't have to mess with it and these are all Toyota parts.

None of the above.. No KDSS & no Blackout wheels. (Just my preference)

For 2022 I will pick Multi terrain monitor. The one without moonroof is great but many seem to like moonroof.

I would also like to add small items like dashcam, all weather mats, dual usb, universal tablet holder, etc..

KDSS no question for me. You can add blackout stuff on your own at a fraction of what the dealer charges.

I did pick KDSS and MTM. Love 'em both. I've driven both KDSS and non. I prefer KDSS. Less body roll and nose dive. Do your research. KDSS has minimal work arounds with the exception of long travel set ups.
Sorry to start a sht storm.
    Not really sorry.

Long travel is always big job regardless. Even Non KDSS needs work.

    • As per 4x4 shop as long as you don't lift 1inches in rear and 2.5 in front you should not have any problems with KDSS.
    • As per "Car Care Nut" youtuber as long as you don't modify KDSS its a great system to have.
