The '17 Benz is going, and so is the old Highlander. Looks like a '22 Ltd 4Runner is waiting for me, and all I can say is that my kids made me do it!! I have had a "nice" sedan and a knock-around truck now for a long time, but the two car dance is getting old, so I am consolidating with what I am told is the ONLY "cool" SUV on earth! Yikes I hope so. Old Tech has never been my thing. For one, I hope I can live with the acceleration (or lack thereof). I suppose that's what my cycle is for. And I hope I can live with the horrific (I am told) gas mileage...the 9 speed Benz got 30mpg at hwy speeds. But let's face it, I am entering the "cool" phase of my life, so here goes! Worst case I sell it since they seem to hold their value (Used '20 Vs new '22 = $3k difference!!! Crazy!). Wish me luck!

Yeah, the two car dance is annoying when you dont really need both.

That said, you’d appreciate a fuel efficient beater once the reality of the gas mileage of the 4runner settles in haha.

I’ve got an OR that I love. My favorite vehicle ever. The perfect utilitarian fun off-roading midlife crisis vehicle. But dammit, it guzzles. Hasnt stopped me from putting 20,000 miles on it since last February, but yeah, it has a drinking problem.

I came into a free 2004 mazda tribute with slightly better gas mileage.

I appreciate it the role of the mazda in my life

Yeah, I really didn’t want to trade in my QX70, but at the end of the day I didn’t feel like maintaining two vehicles.

    Good luck.

Last time I checked I have six cars, all paid off. I have no reason to get rid of them, I just make sure I plug them in if I don’t plan on driving them for long.

Vehicle prices are absurd regardless if its USED or New, but LIFE needs to continue !

When I was looking for a good deal on USED 4RNR it made no sense to not buy a New unit period.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
Make sure everything's secured down inside. When the weather's nice, roll ALL of the windows down. Even the rear one. It makes everything in life better. It's my favorite time of the year for cruising in the 4Runner.

Try not to compare the 4Runner to dissimilar vehicles. It's as fast as it is (0-60 in 7.5 seconds), and it gets the fuel mileage it gets (I average 21.5 MPG over 3 years and 80,000 miles of ownership). It'll never be as fast as that car, or as thrifty as this other one. It rides better than some and not as good as others. Some call it 'dated'. It's definitely NOT a leading-edge tech-toy truck. But the vehicle that it is, and the things it is good at, constitute a package that right now, nobody else is duplicating. And over everything is the security blanket that is reliability. Your money can't buy anything that will give you fewer troubles. So I encourage you to do this: get it, let it introduce itself to you, find out what it is and what it does, and enjoy it for that. It makes no pretenses to be something that it's not. If your expectations are pre-set, you'll have disappointments. I bought mine without a test-drive because I intended to like it. I've not been disappointed.

    Here's to smart kids! Enjoy!

I bought my 2019 ORP in Nov of 2019 (before COVID) and even back then a good deal on a used 4Runner wasn't to be had, so I ended up with a new one off the lot 1000 miles from home. Used 4Runners even back then were close to new vehicle prices and came with thousands of miles already on the odometer.

At least 2 years ago one could work with a dealer and get discounts off MSRP.
