Our SR5 Premium arrived a week ago today.

    6A3272D5-35EC-40D7-8E9F-76DA8267F918.jpg

She arrived at the Portland Port on 10/2. So about 6 weeks from port to our dealer’s lot in Northern Michigan.

As we all know, it’s a bad time to be picky with what you want. Classic Silver was the only metallic color we’d be interested.

We could have opted for a TRD Off-Road Premium, but it was in black. Well not being a fan of owning black vehicles (as well as fake hood scoops), made going with the SR5 Premium an easy call. Silver was also a nice coincidence as our 25th Anniversary was last month.

We took delivery last Friday, after a few accessories (running boards, black emblems, & hood protector) were installed.

I had to work the weekend, as well as Monday, & Tuesday. So I didn’t really get to drive her much until Wednesday.

The first thing I did was removed the OEM hood protector/bug deflector when I saw it was held on with metal clips.

Then I drove to my nearest Discount Tire & swapped the Bridgestone Dueler HTs for a set of Goodyear Ultraterrain ATs.

    What’s her name?

“Silver Streak” was my first thought.

    or “Steelhead”

Excellent, considering today’s climate, it’s a celebration when someone is able to get the vehicle they want. Enjoy :)

Thank you & good point. I think it might be getting better. The week we put our deposit down our other Toyota dealer (45 minutes away) called and asked if we were still looking.

Then last Friday, a dealer 2hrs away & that I had called about 6 weeks ago, also called and asked if I was still looking.

Congrats - love the time frame you gave - mine got to Portland 11/4 and will be going to a dealership in Tennessee, so second week of December if it follows your wait. Plus corresponds with what the dealership said.
I love the smell of New Car in the morning:yes:

Thank you for your Service :oldglory:
I have the pleasure to work with many Veterans from all branches.
I hear clear plexi glass covering is illegal in some states.
I like that thanks for the link.

    Thank you.

Not sure about clear plexi glass in other states, but this only covers the back & edges of the plate to keep metal from touching metal.

I took a quick look at my local dealership website this week.

they didn’t have any 4Runners except one limited, but had several Tacoma’s.

Looking at all their listings they are adding a $1000 to the MSRP on all new models.

They had some used 4Runners and they were crazy priced!
18’&19’ models almost 10 k more than they were new.

Here in Michigan both the dealerships I got down to brass-tacks about price were at MSRP.

I have seen some used 2019s that were within $2k of new.

I like black and it looks really sharp when it’s clean  Our 4th Gen was black. Sadly where we live road salt is used 4 to 6 months out of the year. White & Silver tend to make the dirt & salt not stand out as much.

Nice. We are considering relocating to some place like East TN when I reach mandatory retirement. Winters aren’t as fun as they use to be, and I’ve always disliked what they do to our vehicles.

I love the mountain roads down there...

Her dad worked for Chrysler. She had a Neon in high school with the back floor pan rusted through so you could see the street.

I had my 2013 TE in CO and 7 years of winters there was bad enough. MI is 10 times worse.

Yeah, no matter how well a vehicle is made, eventually the salt wins. Sadly, with enough time, it makes our vehicles disposable.

Mandatory retirement is less then 2yrs away, so hopefully our new 4Runner will only see 2 winters filled with road salt.

    Mandatory retirement?

You must be either an airline pilot or a air traffic controller?

No, but being a pilot was my Plan A in life until I got to college. Then I dropped out, enlisted, and decided to pursue my Plan B.

Mandatory retirement may be a bit of a misnomer. Technically I retired back in 2017. I didn’t have to retire, but with my military time I had enough years of service to do so. Now, due to a manpower shortage we are allowed to stay on for up to 6yrs as a contract employee. Once that 6yrs is up, it becomes mandatory that you separate.

Yes, I wanted to be a professional pilot too, but like many of us, I took the path of least resistance in high school and only focused on cars, girls and generally having a good time. ;)

Oh well, once I grew out of my adolescence, I did get back on track and worked into a good career. So all is well.

    Sorry to diverge your thread.

Best wishes with your new Toyota.
