The market is nuts but I’m torn between a ‘22 SR5P or a ‘19 Limited Nightshade - thoughts?

I had all but settled on getting a new SR5 Premium and having to accept $1-3k in addons over MSRP. However in my search I found a CPO 2019 Limited Nightshade in black with 46k miles. We drove the Limited and sat in an ‘20 SR5 (closest they had to the 22s, since it had carplay.) Despite its age, the limited has some cool features that we don’t have in our current SR5 Tundra nor would a SR5 Premium from my understanding. Dual zone climate control, heated/cooled seats, all leather were things we liked.

I know the ‘22 adds Carplay and BSM/LED headlights, but beyond that how far would an SR5 Premium be from a Limited? The other thing I really like is the full time AWD. We had a highlander previously and the AWD was nice to have.

I have about $5k in mods I’m selling off the Tundra, so that will fund some accessories for the 4Runner Limited like carplay and new headlights.

Where I’m torn is the price. Now obviously I might be able to get an SR5P out the door at MSRP, but every dealer has extra addons totaling 1-3k. So ultimately we’re talking about $50k+ for an SR5P. They offered the limited at $45,090 plus+TTL. Oregon (I’m military buying in Texas) has no sales tax on used vehicle so that’s not far off from the total price. Originally they offered $26k on my trade, giving me $3k in equity. I showed them a Vroom offer from yesterday for $32k and they said you’ll have to sell to them. We said ok, we’ll talk later. Literally 1 min after driving out of the lot I get a call saying they’ll match it. So now I’m thinking, if I can get them to get me out the door at $35k with the trade, maybe this isn’t such a bad deal. The Tundra is worth basically what I paid for it, so I see that washing out how high used prices are.

We really liked the limited features but a ‘22 Limited Nightshade isn’t in our budget. Given all of this, I’m leaning towards trying my hand with a counter offer and taking the Limited. Can you guys sanity check me on this? We’re not in a rush but it definitely felt like a good ride and the deal doesn’t seem terrible to me. But I’d love some second opinions.

honestly, the tundra is more than we need. The new SR5P or a CPO Limited are in the budget. Even if I could swing a new limited, I don’t think I would. That said, we’re not in a rush but definite would help. Driving the tundra on a 40 mile round trip commute sucks, and my wife hates driving it to grab the kids since the parking lots are so small and crowded.

Downsizing, so to speak, would free up our Camry hybrid (2021) for more work commutes which ultimately means we’re using less gas since the kids school is only a mile or two down the road. Honestly, I’ve been eying 4Runners for a while but never really considered a limited until now.

 

I have a 2021 Tacoma and found that I don't really need a truck so thought about switching to either a SR5P or ORP 4Runner. But started reading a bit and decided to go Limited since I don't do the rock crawling stuff and the full time all wheel drive on the Limited would be much more useful where I'm at since I have a 3 mile drive on dirt roads to get to my place and the snow in winter. So don't overlook the all wheel drive on the Limited.

It’s a lot if not impossible to make the sr5 into a limited. Limited also has Xreas suspension I think it’s called. And the all time 4 wheel drive, both of those would be a challenge to get on the sr.

You might be able to knock off a little on the price, but not going to get 10k off right now.

 

Oh yeah I know I can’t get $10k off. I meant get them down to $35k with my trade, so about $1k. Just not sure if essentially $44k is good considering things, but I feel I’m also getting way more out of my trade than a normal market too.

 

I have a Subaru and the Tacoma right now. Only have a deposit on a 2022 Limited and don't know when one will show up.

Get the Limited. I have an '18 SR5P. The Limited has features that do not come with the SR5. If you get the SR5 you will forever be kicking yourself.
