Where did you get the centercaps?

I really like the color of stock off-road wheels now (it is stock, isnt it?) Id like to paint my bright aluminum off road wheels, but not sure if it would blend to much with my magnetic gray paint.

    Stock for now
They are made out of 2" steel tubing. If I were to do it again I would have just used some regular rustoleum spray paint. For $350 plus tax to my door, I've got no complaints yet.

Did you completely remove the break hardware to paint?

On my old 300, I removed the brake caliper, disassembled, cleaned and cleaned some more, hit with hi temp primer, then hi temp pain, then baked in the oven to fully cure. Prolly the better way to do it, but was going to try the ChrisFix way and leave the calipers on and tape and paint.

No. I’m too lazy for that. lol. I tore a small hole in a garbage bag stretched it over the caliper. Sand, clean, prime, paint, clear. Then slapped a high heat trd decal on top.

Those look great! How does plastidip hold up to mud? Does it stain?

Im feeling a need to do something with my stock wheels instead of buying some cool-ass Ray 10s. Truth is, the stock wheels are perfect for off roading with the valve stem being so well protected.

I really wanted to do those wheels and have them powder coated could have got a set super cheap but I wasn't sure what the offset was on those Wheels not that I'm not very happy with my f n Wheels but it would have been nice to not have to carry different lug nuts for the spare

Over the weekend, I rotated tires, adjusted parking brake, and touched up with Fluid Film in prep for winter. Word of warning though…..dont spray fluid film on the rear spring seats…..I drove around all Sunday with a creaking and popping that I finally traced down to the spring seat. Apparently the lube allowed the spring to move in the seat by the .5mm slack it has to move. Enough to make a creak. Thankfully a rinse with brake cleaner seemed to solve that problem.

As noted in a prior post, went 295. Here is a little pic depicting the size differences. Ran 1.25” spacers with all tires. All descriptions below Did not rub, even at full lock reverse. Running a Westcott pro lift at 2/1.25”. I should note 265/285s are with stock pro wheels, 295s are on 17x9 -12 offset. I did run these same wheels with the 285s and had no issues after the mods listed below.

    Nitto TG 265s: nothing trimmed

KO2s 285s: fender liner mod, trimmed 1.25” off bumper, heated rear ( front) fender liner ( near rocker panel)

Geolander G003 M/T 295s: aggressive bmc, trimmed more fender liner, cut and trimmed rocker panel cap, banged pinch welds, cut another 1” off bumper.

I'm not sure how they do vs mud or if they stain yet as they are my winter set up but I'll find out in dec or jan when I have a couple of long highway trips over the passes and will slap these wheels/tires on. Worst case if they do stain, you just peel it off and toss on a new coat if it gets too bad.

Plasti dip holds up really well in mud. So Long as you let it settle for about 2 weeks after painting them. I wouldn't power wash directly at the plasti dip, however.

That progression and the current wheel/tire combo are awesome. Also makes me wish I had the lunar rock -- the look can vary so much, each very distinct.

Definitely dont power wash plastidip. I dipped the TRD letters on the skid plate and it didnt take much to peel the dip right off.

EDIT - Check that, dont power wash dipped letters. I also dipped the valances, front and back, and have had no problem power washing these.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who has the best looking Lunar Rock of all - Banxwondar!

The Lunar Rock looks best a little dirty and in the shade. Everyone tends to take a picture when shiny clean and in the full sun. Looks much better in the shade!

First oil change at 1K, finally got my ditch lights installed and added the center console organizer. Reworked my CB antenna mount and added the Comet swivel mount so I can lower the antenna when needed - great mount but a bit fiddly for my application New Thinkware front and rear dash cam showed up today - this will be the next late afternoon home from work mod. Gotta save up a little money and then I can order the Rago Fab center console storage set-up. This will allow me to get my CB mounted and functioning.IMG_20211108_1557155.jpg IMG_20211108_1557221 (1).jpg

LOL, thanks! I agree it does look best in shade as it takes on more of a greyish hue.
    Thanks, appreciate it!

I’ve been looking at the access holes in my warn bumper and thinking of all the salt spray in winter. I want to keep as much of that off the winch. So I made a couple of cover plugs using the foam padding that came in the winch packaging, and a cheap thin HDPE cutting board I cut to size. Easy to put on, easy to take off for winching operations. I’ll probably plastidip the red plastic black.

    Waiting.... for wife's permission...
    Screenshot_20211111-004216_Chrome.jpg
    Just pulled the trigger
and purchased a monitor that integrates with existing toyota factory tire pressure sennsors in my 5th Gen 4runner limted. Its a small footprint, takes up an empty lightswitch blank, has an antenna under the dash that picks up the factory tire sensors, and displays all 4 tires pressure (psi and kps), tire temp (f and c) and vehicle voltage, and its touch screen.
I spent FOREVER searching for a display that uses the already existing sensors. This is marketed to Lexis, but i have talked with the company and they said it will work with any Toyota-Lexus vehicle after a certain date.(memory fails me on that particular). Just got tired of the no frills light going off on the dash, then having to check each tire. Yea, I'm fat and lazy damit, got a problem with that? now this will free up my Scangaauge II, for more important readings. Will post photos once it is installed. If it works out well, my wife has already requested on for her '10 Highlander. I put the link below. I believe the company is out of Taiwan.

I don't like paying sales tax either, but I see it not as theft but as paying my debt of gratitude for the privilege of being able to drive my 4Runner (aka Wondermobile!) in all the beautiful places in this amazing country of ours.

If you hit a large critter and you will be very happy that you have that bull bar. I smoked a deer, perfect broadside hit at 55 mph, no time to hit the brakes. Bent my license plate frame and pulled the bumper-cut trim off. Better than having my ride in the shop for new facia, radiator, etc. and the inconvenience. Bumper paid for itself that day.
Pic of the carnage in the link.

I wish i had a bull bar on my warn, but was thankful for a cheaper, available option that worked with my TSS sensor.
