Many of us with the early 3rd gen’s have retrofitted the black plastic cup holder section from the later (99 and up?) consoles, because a cup holder is important!
    Anyways, now I just bought a 4wd ‘96 with a 5 speed.
Does anyone know if that cup holder section is the same dimensionally in an automatic or a 5speed?
Or am I looking for a “unicorn” special 5 speed/4wd only piece?? Thanks

    Too many for this space.
I've done the cup holder update with my manual 3rd gen. It's the same as the auto.

    Thanks Tonyota.
So no differences between the 5speed and auto consoles? Or just the black plastic cup holder section?
Just don’t want to buy auto stuff and find it won’t fit.
And if anyone has these parts (tan color) I am interested!

I made one out of some 1/4 rod I had laying around. Mounted it to one of the shifter bolts.

Now I know why early last November our 4Runner product line blew up way before black Friday. I was super confused on why the Holiday rush came so soon. Now I know it was from this thread. Thank you for posting the link. I wanted to get on here to get out some info for Black Friday. The emails are starting to flood in asking if we will be running any Black Friday promos this year. With the cost of manufacturing continuing to go up at an alarming rate and inflation kicking my teeth in, we don't have the wiggle room for big promos. With that being said, we are still running our forum discount of 15% and free shipping by using coupon code "TEQ15" at checkout. We had to cancel that promo on Etsy and Ebay because their seller fees WITH a promo meant we made zero profit. The alternative is to raise our prices but we are stubbornly trying to avoid that if possible. The promo does work on our website since we don't charge ourselves fees. That link was posted a couple posts back. If you guys have any questions about our cup holders, TEQ badges, or even future products in development for the 3rd Gen 4Runner then you are welcome to ask away. I don't want to make my first post a sells pitch so I want bombard you with product stuff but I'm happy to answer questions. There is one thing I will ask for. I'm trying to find a 96-02 Surf in the 4WD auto and the 4WD manual configuration located in the US. We are constantly getting asked to make cup holders for the Surf (Non US 4Runner) but we need access to the console to develop those cup holders and we need to be able to test fit the prototypes. Anyone with a Surf in the US interested in helping me with this project will get a free final version perfected prototype.

For visual reference, these of our 3rd Gen 4Runner cup holders. We make the double cup holder for the auto 2WD and 4WD console. We make the single for the auto 2WD/4WD consoles AND the manual 2WD/4WD console. We do make a double cup holder for the manual tranny console. The shifters movement limits the space and makes it impossible to mount a double cup holder on that console. We also make a rear double cup holder to replace the faulty (and usually broken) OEM pull out cup holder.

Apparently folks didn't read my earlier post about a Black Friday promo. I had 100s of email this morning when I got into the shop asking about any promos today. The only promo we are running right now is 15% off the entire order plus free shipping. Use coupon code "TEQ15" during checkout. We are not running the 15% off promo on etsy or ebay because of all their seller fees. This promo is only available on our website. www.bh3dprinting.com

Sucks Delta VS doesn't make a console for the 4R.

If they did I probably would've kept that rig.

It's even worse if you have a grey interior like mine. There are several different shades of moonlight mist and everyone on ebay sells them as grey. It's close enough that it's hard to tell in photos, but when you receive one it's obvious that it's not right. You really have to get into the weeds for there to be any sort of differentiation in color codes. And that's on top of mine being a 5 spd 4wd with the rear heating.

I've been looking for so long that I'm starting to question if Toyota discontinued my particular shade of grey before they offered cup holders

Once I get my cnc plasma table, I'd love to make a center console myself to offer up.

Just need to find a candidate close by...

The darker true gray was offered from 96-98 in the 4Runner. The interior color codes chart show that color being offered up to 2002 BUT I have personally never seen the dark gray color on anything from 2000 and newer. The lighter blue/gray color called moonlight mist was offered from 2000-02 and I have been told some 99s got it but I have not personally seen that. Overall there are 3 colors offered in the US market, there is the tan(Oak), dark gray, and blue/gray(moonlight mist). The moonlight mist simply looks medium gray with very little blue. You can't see the blue unless you have a true gray color right next to it. The dark gray is the challenging one because for some reason it fades over time. The clean garage kept early 3rd gens have a nice deep dark gray but the used and abused early 3rd gen that never saw a garage in their life tend to be a couple shades lighter. Some folks then think they have the moonlight blue due to the fading. It's SUPER annoying trying to color match a color that can change over time. We looked at a wide range of 96-98 gray consoles from pristine to VERY worn and faded and simply found a gray that was right in the middle. The tan never fades so that was easy to match. Good luck on your hunt.

I thought it was the other way around. The blue grays were the older ones while the later ones were a darker color. I strongly suspect mine is a blue gray, but it was in New Mexico for 10 years and then Oregon so it could of faded. When I bought a replacement center console it was a dark gray one, and mine looked blue. The blue color makes the interior look way less modern.

My window sticker simply says gray, yet when I bought a replacement door sill the replacement was labeled moonlight mist (and it matched). And the interior color code is YA16, I've never heard of anyone having that color code. Most gray color codes are FB16 and FB17, and more rare FW16.

The darker gray is definitely the earlier years. The 1990-95 2nd Gen 4Runner used the same darker gray. The 91-97 Landcruiser also used that gray. The lighter blue/gray started being used in different models around 98 and I think it was 99 that it showed up in the 4Runner but I'm not 100% sure. Different catalogues show differences in the color codes in 99 and 2000. I wish Toyota would keep it simple but they don't. It gets insane when you get into the international market where there is an entirely different set of interior colors for the 4Runner and counterpart Surf.
