Dealer called me yesterday, after ordering on Friday, to say no joy on rear sliding deck.
I guess I will have to remember how to use that old saw.

    Gee, that's disappointing.
I DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING ANY DEALER SAYS!
But who knows. The Trail Edition comes standard with them and the Toyota build site has them????

If I can get a definitive answer then I'll stop passing on available ORPs. Hope others have facts.

I just checked true car nation inventory of trails, all 44 have 3rd row seating.

Well. Sounds like Toyota is getting rid of parts before 6 Gen?? Interesting.

Do you have any thing from the factory, or just with the dealer? I have also requested one on my build sheet and that’s what I am currently expecting.

Please tell me how you went about this whole process. I'm dealing with three dealers who aren't taking deposits and am doing the waiting thing. Supposed to hear about what's coming in tomorrow or Tuesday.
    Thanks.

If you get one with the sliding cargo deck… if you remove the deck does it look identical to a truck that didn’t come with a deck?

anyone have a pic of a truck with the deck removed?

sorry, I wish I could provide more info. I'm not going through retail as I'm a Toyota employee.

That said from what I've seen on various forums and FB pages, a lot of people seem to be doing cold calls to dealers to see if they will sell at MSRP. If you are able to travel a bit to get it faster, I'd suggest that method.

Not sure if you checked out this thread yet, but worth a shot.

this is from a different forum, but this guy added the sliding deck. you can kind of see how the floor looks before the deck is installed.

Yeah. I've been doing all that you suggest.
Since you are a Toyota employee perhaps you can answer a question.? Sounds like you ordered a 4Runner rather than just waited for a unit that approximated what you wanted as an allocation. True?

Correct, the process is a bit different for employees. Employees are able to order directly.

Bummer. That sucks for us "common folk". Guess I need to get a friend that's a Toyota employee. Haha.
Can you answer why this is the case? Why Toyota doesn't let consumers order what they prefer? Why there's a system discrepancy between Toyota's build page and the allocation system.

    Thanks

efficiency. allowing customizations for hundreds of thousands of cars a year (millions globally) would ultimately drive up costs. so they just build vehicles with certain specs by batches. the "build" page just shows you what combos are possible.
