There are no specs out on any of the '22 models. There was only the preview of the Sport trim package.

    Hello from Salt Lake.

Ordered a 2022 TRD PRO August 28th. Haven’t heard crap but then again it’s only been 5-6 weeks. Dealer won’t or can’t tell me anything. Originally told me Dec-Jan but I’m not holding my breath. Might get my 500 bucks back and go buy a Range Rover. Sort of pissed off at the whole process. Anyway, good luck fellas. We wait and see .

In a good year, you probably wouldn’t know much at this point, especially with a pro. I have a deposit in for a ORP, dealership has no idea when it will allocated. When I requested my Tacoma it too almost 6 months to get it, back in 2016.

Thanks for the info. I knew it was early for me to start complaining. Just excited and a little bit of a pessimist I guess. This whole “ordering” thing is new for me. I’ve always been a Super Duty Ford guy. Ya know, walk in, pick it out and drive it home. I will wait patiently. Thx again

Yeah way to early to complain haha
Just to give you an idea back in July I put down my deposit for a Pro that was already allocated to the dealer and had a built date that month. I did not pick it up until the middle of September.

So for a vehicle that is not even allocated yet, you would have to give them probably about 2-3 months before you even hear of an allocation. If you really want it you have to put in some work and reach out to 100's of dealers even out of state and preferably put a deposit on one with an allocation that can give you a vin instead.

So I called the dealer today and they actually took the time to explain things to me. I am #8 on the list out of what he called “the Denver Region” for a 2022. He said it would be hit and miss on getting a vehicle by the end of January (I need a ride by the 2nd week of Feb). He suggested I look at the TRD Off Road. Said it would be a ton easier to get so I’m leaning that direction. More color options and availability. Will make a decision within the ext month or so I guess. ✌️

You really can't go wrong either way.

I was all set to buy a used 2018 ORP upjumped with some Pro looks in Ohio when the seller pulled out of the deal (when I sent him a short sales agreement I drafted, since he expected I would wire him the cash prior to his even having title in hand from the financing party). I then decided I would just start looking at Pros -- and in summer 2020, realized the "discount" on a used Pro 1-2 years old was barely anything.

I "got on the list" ata dealer that was not trying to fleece me on late August/early September 2020 and had it before Christmas.

And that was before all of the supply-chain issues really began to manifest across all product lines, especially cars.

But if you can get TRD Off Road or ~ Premium, as many will tell you here, you can make it whatever you want. Me, I like keeping things stock.

Anyone know what F status means? Just got an email from my sales person, they said they think they have one in F status in another month or so. I replied back saying I assume this is a good thing, they responded with its a good thing, means we have a lock on it.

According to my quick google, F=Freight, can anyone confirm this?

Yes "F" status means freight. So it should be on a train or truck on its way to the dealer.

That's what I was thinking, think it will take a month to get to Maine? Thats a long train/truck ride. Honestly, I would be ok if it took months, I prefer to receive it in the Spring, so I have time to take care of the frame before its exposed to our lovely salty roads in the winter.

My understanding of how "ordering" works may be a bit skewed because of being in Gulf States Toyota territory, but my understanding is that there are two kinds of "orders" that can be done. One is an allocation order, where the dealer takes a vehicle that is already in their allocated vehicles to be built and requests changes to match whatever it is you are looking for. This is typically pretty easy and usually won't require a wait longer than 2-3 months, except for really rare things that may be pretty limited in their allocation, like PROs.

The other kind of order is one where they request an additional vehicle over and above what they have been allocated, to be built to your requested specs. Those orders are not usually filled until all of the allocated vehicles have been built for the model year. I did one of those kinds of orders for a 2016 Tacoma in early November 2015, and it wasn't available until mid-March 2016.

Something to consider if you are looking at trying to order a 2022 is that I believe Toyota already cut the # of allocated 4runners they planned to make this year by around 30% due to chip shortages. Additionally, when I inquired about ordering a 2022 ORP with KDSS via a GST dealership (GST apparently did not request any KDSS models for any of their dealerships in their allocation), I was told that Toyota would not be accepting orders until at least November or December of this year. Knowing that they already cut the allocated models due to chip shortages and that the "special" orders are not made until all of the allocated vehicles are built, I decided not to wait and do a special order. Mainly, I had no confidence that they would even be in a position to build additional vehicles when they completed the allocated models, and I also didn't want to wait until December only to be told "oh yeah, well Toyota isn't going to accept any special orders for 2022s this year." Or worse yet, put in the order in December, and then get a message in March 2022 saying "due to chip shortages we aren't going to fill your order, thanks anyway". So I will be flying to Colorado in a couple of weeks to pick up the vehicle we wanted that is currently at the port or in transit to Colorado.

Just a little food for thought on ordering.

going through this again (switching from 2021 Black ORP to a 2022 Silver ORP because I can't deal with maintaining black paint long term, just a nightmare). Dealer is trying to get a 2022 Silver ORP in the pipe before we look at numbers.

I'm in a more relaxed position because I'm already in a 4Runner so there is no rush, plus if the $$ to switch doesn't make sense I will stay in the black one anyway but will be interesting to see how long this takes.

Don't think its worth the trouble. I would just get it ceramic coated and call it a day.

thinking long term, silver still looks good on 4th gens. black vehicles almost always look like crap after 3-4 years, made a huge mistake settling for black the first time around.

even with ceramic you need to basically have to wash the truck like you are performing surgery to afford swirls, I don't have time for that.

Well if there was ever a time to do it and not lose your ass on the trade it’s now. Just make sure you don’t overpay for the new one

True! Only put 3600km on it in 6 months so I'd still consider it basically new as far as this market is concerned, we'll see what they offer me for it.

In this ,armed, it’s probably better than new, it’s already got the drive off the lot appreciation.
