When a shop talks engineers, run back to your 4R and drive away, like you stole it.

@James-Venture21 let me suggest one more thing. Give a call to one of these shops and ask some info on KDSS lift before you post another one here. How about that? I bet you will thank us.

OP, I understand this might be confusing if new to it; we all started somewhere. I can assure you, this Forum is the correct place to learn and acquire the right information; lots of knowledgeable members here, giving their time, knowledge & experience on newbies. They are all good people willing to help you.

Forget about the shop & the 18" wheels, go with 17" wheels to start, order online. A 4 Wheel drive shop or a body shop can do the lift; it's not rocket science. Keep us posted, we are here to help.

Another great source for a good lift. exit-offroad - Owner Mike, he is a resident member on this Forum, very knowledgeable & honest guy, email or call him. https://exitoffroad.com/?gclid=Cj0K...O7oHh-OR1fVvjF5sTfSO8LJtF6HGUQN0aAj2iEALw_wcB

I'd suggest that you run for your life and let them eat the wheels for all the BS you've been put through.
Skip 18" wheels also and stick with 17". Just my opinion.

Yes! Like everyone has said, don't waste any more time with that shop. I would be genuinely concerned about them screwing with the KDSS and causing you some serious headaches.

It can not be done. Lift a KDSS truck and doom will ensue.

    Hey thank you
My only problem now.. i can’t find any place locally. I live in
lower New York State- Westchester county. I don’t even know a good search query on Google to find shops that do this kind of work. I surely do not know what to order.
Can you help me in the process? Is there shops you can Recommened in this area just outside of NYC?
Thanks.. sorry for being a naive pain in the ——-…
    Thanks again

I think sharing what good knowledgeable shops around New York - Westchester is what OP needs than what lift kit to install at this point. So OP can ask the shop what components needed. Shocks, springs, uca, diff drop, sway bar spacers / different track bar, any skid plate mods (if TRD skid equipped), etc..

I haven’t found one installer around that area that has any real knowledge of lifting any Toyota outside of a spacer lift. In all honesty OP good luck…

    James,
I checked out that shop Dedona, they have 5 stars all over, 50 - 5 stars on Facebook & 97 reviews on Google with a 4.7 rating, they do lifts on jeeps, 4R's etc. Have you talked to the manager?
    https://www.dedonainc.com/home1

Nevertheless, have you called or gone to the dealership and asked if they do suspension lifts, my dealership does. Like mentioned, you can purchase the parts, any mechanic can do this. I gave you the website from exitoffroad.com - call Mike and he will tell you what you need, he ships right away ("2021 TRD ORP W/KDSS. Dobinsons 2.5" front and 1.5" back".). You have multiple body & 4 wheel drive shops in your area that can do the job.

Hi all thank you… since I’m a high school teacher, i have my entire summer off. Maybe what I’ll do is plan a cross country trip next summer and schedule an appointment at one of these locations. i really appreciate everyone here for helping me.
i apologize for being very naïve to all this. I know very little about trucks/ cars / suspensions etc.. i just know what looks good..
i will not post any more on this topic but leave with a thank you to everyone who has guided me. I am quite sure i know what to do from here..
    thank you everyone again..

No need to apologize for this! I learned almost everything I know about this from this forum and Tacomaworld. That's the purpose of these forums. It's better to ask and learn than to get screwed over by some shop that doesn't know what they're doing.

Update this thread once you choose a product, and post pictures once you get it installed. ;)

    1. First call one of the shops our members recommend.
    2. These shops will give you multiple options based on your budget. Write down those options.
    3. Take time to research on that. (at least few months)
    4. Call the shop again when you have questions.
    5. Search more if needed.
    6. Decide whether you are going to plan a trip or not. eg A trip to CO to get the kit installed or ship the kit to the shop you select in NY. These shops not only install they will ship kits as well.

Small question - Do you have 4x4 experience before? If not, do not rush on lift. 4R is plenty capable of hitting the trails and let you learn how to drive. When to use your features.

    Hi,
This is my 2021 4 Runner now.. as you can see i got myself rock lights. A front bumper with a 30” light bar.. Baja ditch lights which i don’t like. They are too yellow and not amber. i await still 11 months now for my Gobi rack. Also i just added the Morimito XB amber headlights and i have their tail lights as well.

Nevertheless when i look at my truck i still don’t like it. I can’t stand the way it leans forward. Without the llft n some bigger tires to me it still looks like a soccer moms car.

yes i have 4x4 experience. I love spending my time in northern New York State in the Adirondack mountains as well as many logging roads in Maine.
    Thanks again.. James

Well that's actually normal wait times for them.... :(

Also, truck looks great. Lift and tires will transform it completely. It's really a radical change when you get it right.

Great looking 4R, you don't need other rims, you can fit 275's or 285's on these, I have my 285"s on the same rims, they are perfect to go off-road. Yes, the weight from the bumper & winch will lower the front end even more; a lift would not only look good on your 4R, helping avoid scraping as well. The shop that installed the bumper & winch can do a suspension lift I assume. You could even do 3" in front because of the extra weight the front will settle a half an inch, and 1.5" rear, keep a little bit of rake. Shocks & springs will do the trick.
