Lift help needed

I saw a 4Runner I really liked with a 4 inch maxtrac spindle lift and I love how his 4Runner sits. But I can’t do that because I have a 4x4, so I’m trying to find something that would replicate. Any suggestions?

 

A drop bracket lift will do it if they are available for Runners. You have to cut the factory front crossmenber out and bolt in the drop bracket which reduces ground clearance and as a buddy learned wheeling his 6 inch lifted Tacoma, is not as strong as the factory crossmember.

Edit: I briefly searched and only found Fabtech offers a 6 inch lift for non KDSS Runners.

I’ve seen it done with 4 inch spindles and a 2.5 inch level on the front. But I’m 4x4 I cant do spindles.

 

You're 4wd so no unless you go with a drop bracket lift. 2.5 is about the max you want to do with coilovers. Another idea is a body lift but those are garbage and usually cause their own issues.

In addition to long travel and extended length coilovers. And while crappy like others have alluded to, to get the lift you want, 1-2" body spacers.

You need a drop bracket lift for 6 inches.

You actually do. Those lifts you're talking about eat up suspension downtravel so stacking will be at the limit or beyond of the stock travel. So if you get both in there your CVs, ball joints, tie rod ends and sway bar links will be stressed to the point that they will fail often plus the ride will be garbage. People have tried and failed over the years with Tacomas when I owned one and it's the same thing here. A drop bracket lift lowers the front diff and lower control arms to maintain suspension geometry and gives you lift spindles that will not work without the drop bracket.

You may not like the answer but you can't do it cheap and your thinking of stacking lifts will not work. You asked for help so I gave it. Why do you need so much lift anyway?

About the only way you're gonna get 6 inches out of a 4x4 4Runner is a portal axle lift, *IF* they even make it for the 4Runner and if they do, it's likely made in Russia. Plus, you'll have to have a normal 3" suspension lift, which they're just giving away. You're gonna be in it over 10 grand. You'd be better off doing a solid front axle swap, which is also very very expensive.

Portals are designed for IFS and/or IRS. If you have solid axles, you don't need portals most of the time.

Unimogs, Volvo C303s, Pinzgauers, Tatras, and more would disagree sternly that portals are made just for IFS/IRS. Those are all solid axle portals.

But as stated above OP, if you're REALLY set on doing this, a drop bracket is needed, and while it is literally possible, again you're going to pay out the wazoo

Portal axles would be an option. A drop bracket would work as well, but it somewhat defeats the purpose of the lift.

That's an insane amount of lift for a 4Runner, but it's your money.

 

Hey now, there are gen x’ers and millennials on here too Unless that counts as boomers now too…Gen Z seems kinda seems to use boomers as an insult towards anybody older than them.

As someone that would be categorized as gen X, I can get behind that look. Looks badass, even if the tires don’t fit in the wheel wells. Might not be great for travel and off road, but if you got the money to make a show car, sometimes it’s not about functionality. I can appreciate custom vehicles (except Carolina Squat… I just dont get that).

Here's a 6" drop bracket kit. I had the dirt logic 2.0 coilovers on my Tacoma and really liked them. Did not have a drop bracket kit on it tho.
