Looking to order a set of Wescott Designs Rock sliders for my new 4 Runner.

Only question, which is more comfortable to use a 0 Degree, (Flat) or a 20 Degree angled set>

I live in Missouri not Arizona, so not like I can go check them out.

For those that have a set or similar, which do you prefer for comfort of stepping in and out? Mostly the stepping part is for my wife and kids since they are shorter than me.

    Thanks for your input.

If you want the best function as a step, the 0° sliders will be best. They'll sit a tad lower and further have more usable surface area to step on. That said, I have angled RSG sliders and they are ok to step on.

If using as a step is important, 0 degree.

Those look like my schrockworks sliders. I don't need the step but my wife and kids all use it and haven't complained. For me, it provides just enough (barely) if I go toe-forward and I've found just turning my foot to the side (as if I were kicking a soccer ball) provides a more stable/suitable footing. I see comments stating to go flat if you want a more adequate step surface (great point). Another way to look at it is that unless you are doing a lot of off-roading, I am not sure there is a huge benefit to the angle. That's really intended to maximize clearance if I am not mistaken which is a nominal gain and may not be important. Other than those two points, looks would be the final factor. I chose the angled myself because I liked the sleeker look, seems just a bit more rugged in a sense. Really no other reason.

Awesome feedback. Thanks, I think the flat is the best option. I won't off-road a ton.

Those look sweet. The only downside is the 6-8 week lead time :annoyed:

the downtime is a bit, however they are so soo worth the wait. I have the RSG 0 degree with top plate, I wanted/needed a step and I think they are perfect and have already saved a door :woot:

My schrockworks angled and tucked in nicely while still plenty of room to serve as a step.

Here is my Westcott design 20 degree. If you don’t off-road and want to use them as a step then I would get the 0 degree. I barely am able to step on them when getting in and out of the 4Runner when in the front. However, the rear allows for a good step in the back.

I have rsg flats. More practical if you have kids and a wife. Works great as a step. Unles your looking for every inch of clearance off-road I’d get flat ones. Imo Your likely to make contact with frame rails and body before the sliders with angled up. I’ve been in multiple situations where more than likely would have got into my lower doors and slid on my frame rails if I had the angled up vs the 0degree

As others have said, if using as a step then the 0 degree is the way to go IMHO. I have the 0 degree Wescott sliders with top plates and I’m very happy with them. They look awesome and are very functional. They make getting into our lifted T4R much easier for my wife and kids.

My Shrockworks sliders are flat 0Deg. I feel they offer more protection for my door panels off road vs angled.

I love my 0degree caliraised sliders. Kid uses them as a step, they hold up well off-road, have the kick out, etc. they are also local so I could just drive in and pick them up, which was nice.

Reviving this thread. I am currently looking to orders sliders but man lead times are killing me haha

Anyone know of a good slider that doesn't have crazy long lead times? I am in socal so it can be local too.

Sale may still be going on. Site says 8-10 weeks to be shipped. I was ok with this and placed my order. 1.5-2 weeks go by and I get a notification that they shipped. May be worth it to give them a call and see if they are still 8-10 weeks or if this has been reduced. I like them, they are heavy duty, and they flare out at the rear portion so it provides a good step for the kiddos.

Just to add to this conversation, last week i had a vehicle ram into the side of me. I was going about 35-40 mph. I would say the sliders paid for themselves, the Mazda that hit me was not so lucky.

I ordered a set of these heftyfabs based on your post mainly. Ordered on Sept. 9th hoping to have them for when my vehicle arrived. They shipped on the 23rd. I have them in my garage now and am still waiting for delivery of my 4runner. This is arguably the better position to be in!

I wish you guys would STOP posting about your sliders. It makes me want a set. ;)

If I was gonna get sliders, the 0 degree/straight out ones would be my choice.

I vote Cali Raised as well. Ordered 31st May, 2021, and shipped 15th June, 2021. Great customer service from the team, because God only knows I had a million questions before biting the bullet.

    Cheers,
