    Hello,
    Thank you for the add.
I was wondering if anyone has a crate in their 4runner that fits a giant breed dogs, like mastiffs. Any information is appreciated.

can you list more information on your dog? Like breed age and weight. So you can get a more clear answer

also are you looking for a temp crate or a full time crate in the vehicle. Seats up or folded down?

I have a Cane Corso and German Shepherd Dog. The Corso is 4 and GSD is 1y2m old. I know that GSD will fit in no problem, but concerned about the Corso, since he is on a larger side of the breed standard (145+lb)

    Following;
Interested to hear how people take big dogs in their 4R.

The home cage (42in) I got for my GSD puppy doesn't fit in the cargo area. I had to move all my stuff to front and fold half of rear seats.

    I don't think a car safe cage would fit in a 4runner.

I'm thinking the practical way to take a big dog in 4runner is to use a harness that goes around the body and buckle to seat belt.

Just a thought by a new owner. So by no means an advice. I could be very wrong.

Actually you are quit right. A body harness that attaches to the seat belt would be much better for a large dog.

A harness won’t do anything in event of a crash.

@Ivolk they make car cages specifically for the 4runner however it’s not something that can be put in and out in a timely manner and you also have two dogs so that would eliminate space for the other.

however due to the limitations of the 4runner your pretty much out of luck for getting a crate inside that fits your dogs.

I also don’t believe their are any other impact rated crates that size either.

A harness would at least keep a dog that large in the vehicle in a crash. With a dog that large you are very limited.

I agree, in the event of the crash harness is not helpful. Currently my dogs ride in the trunk side by side. But while it is comfortable for them, it is not the safest way, and it is not easy to clean the trunk. I know someone who trains their dogs with us, who uses B29 in her 4Runner and 2 GSDs fit no problem. I tried her crate for my Corso and it was a pretty tight fit if the middle divider is in place. I was just wondering if anyone has an experience with a crate like that and a giant breed.

Don't blame me, I voted for Trump.
Crate or cage? I open the back "Bugs get in the car" he happily jumps in. He's 13 years old and will not go in a cage, I tried once, it's not happening. Body harness attached to the seat, I'm thinking he wouldn't go for that either. He likes moving around and slobbering on the windows.

145 lb. dog get him his own trailer you can tow.
