I know what other feature this new Tundra will have, it will have a stupid electronic parking brake. I don't want that, I love the sound of a manual noisy parking brake. I'm telling you fellas, cars will get a lot more stupid. They will become computers on four wheels.

Yeah, but is it going to be a pig like it is now, or will they size it more like the Land Cruiser. Inquiring minds must know. We still have the a Gen 1 Sequoia in the family (I gave it to my daughter) and it still runs great. The problem with the Sequoia is that its a bit on the big and heavy side. Its great as a personnel carrier, not so great off road.

Sequoia is Toyota's Suburban. I won't be surprised if they make(And they should) the wheel base even longer for more cargo space and more roomy 3rd row seats.

They already are computers with wheels. Especially the new EVs.

    Very soon....
    • all cars will be connected to servers and constantly streaming data over the new auto-dedicated global network
    • all cars will have analytics options
    • all crashes will be recorded via black box and gps chips. Cops will simply look at the data and get insta report of exactly what happened in the wreck. No more lying to the cops.
    • all cars will to talk to each other to help avoid collisions
It's all coming much faster than anyone thinks. Big things are in motion that most of the public is not aware of. In 20-30 years, driving is going to be a very different experience.

I have two dashcams in my 4Runner in case of a collision. No thank you, I will never own a fancy future car. I will keep driving my 4Runner for as long as I can.

Thanks for input. Dogs will go with us for sure. We justified the cost in our heads due to the fact of using it about 5 to 6 months out of the year everyday. The plan is for us to stay gone as much as possible. We do not need the best one but a nice one (Not to big 21 to 26ft). I think within the first year or 2 it will pay off for itself versus 6months worth of hotel bills I hope.

I agree with @ScottsBad. Go simple and light. Stay in hotels, camp when you like, be flexible.

There are loads of used RVs and trailers for sale because folks get tired of the hassle and expense of driving, parking, and maintaining a huge vehicle. Plus, trailer parks and campsites that can accommodate a large truck & trailer are often crowded, noisy, and they can be pretty dumpy locations. After a few years people get tired of it and sell. You might rent a vehicle and take it on a test trip to see if this life is really for you.

Maybe rent a Sprinter and try out the “van life” instead of trailer life.
Or pull a smaller trailer with your 4Runner for the dogs and gear, and have your wife read this book ;):

An RV/trailer isn't for everyone. That being said, some of the best memories I've had throughout my life have been utilizing an RV in one way or another. And, no, I don't live in one. :)

I think you're making a good decision. You will most likely need either air bags or helper springs in back if you plan on towing anything bigger than a tent trailer. Also, the lighter and smaller your trailer is, the more pleasant it will be to tow, maneuver and park. It's nice when the wife is willing to drive on long trips. That cooperation can fade if you're at your towing capacity and it's white knuckle driving every time you hit a cross wind.
