I’ve search a lot for an answer. Something hit my fog light housing pretty hard and I got “the gap”. I tried the Toyota solution with 3m “Velcro” tape and it didn’t work. Replaced the L shaped bracket under the headlight as well. Did anyone find a solution to this? I pulled the front bumper cover off and wasn’t sure exactly what I was looking for.

When removing and reinstalling the bumper, align the square bumper guide into the square hole in the headlight L bracket.
If this is not seated correctly, bumper gaps may occur.

Not sure about damage repair. Just make sure both bumper guides are seated al the way. This will take stress off the gap

What I found after disassembling it last night was the bracket is missing a tab. I couldn’t take a cleat picture but here is a new one.

It’s under the passenger headlight where the square post goes into to headlight bracket. There is one on the drivers side is why I suspect this. Looks like a tab that would hold on to a slot.

I know those brackets are screwed down on the sides. But anything loose will effect the bumper

When I replaced the headlight(had moisture in it), I don’t recall noticing it there. I keep seeing people taking about replacing the retaining clips, which ones? I know there are some around the bumper in the wheel well attached to the bumper and splash guards.

The bumper retainer wasn’t tight. In fact it popped off, I think I got the two screws near the fender well reversed by the looks of it. It’s back together but I ordered another it’s not tight.
