I've been looking at adding one. I want the Dometic, but they have been recalled.

A cording to Dometic’s site the only fridge recall is for some models built from 1997-2006

I’m looking at fridges as well, and like Dometic, but they seem hard to get here in Canada. So, I’ve been looking at ARB. At least you can order all the stuff you need at once, like the wiring kit, cover and slider.

I've had an ARB 50 quart fridge running in my vehicle for the past 5 years.

It was in my FJ before I switched to the 4 Runner.

I bought an Alpicool C20 about a year ago and it works great. No separate freezer, its either a fridge or freezer. It works great for day trips and short camping trips. Very easy on the battery.

I have 2 ARB ZERO’s 65 quarts. I just strap in the back and plug her in dc or ac in the 4Runner. They are kinda cool, I can Bluetooth from my phone and check on the temp, and change the temp.

I want to kickstart this thread again, hoping a few folks have got on the fridge bandwagon since the last post?

I will eventually get a Dometic, however, I have seen two fridges at a more reasonable price. I am wondering if anyone has any experiences with them or any other budger fridge's

We have the Iceco VL45 and have zero complaints. I mounted a slide in back and then made a mount to hold my Jackery which easily keeps it powered.

Seems like a good idea. My last road trip I used a cheap foam cooler and a bag of ice. It started leaking by the third day.

I bought a Yeti and i already regret it. Ordered a SetPower RV45D and it will be here Saturday (Ill share photos)

I used "Ozark Overland" for a promo code and I was $408 out the door shipped to DFW. Considering it has a freezer I might not ever get to use the Yeti other than for Extra ice.

I am interested in the SetPower AJ40....my concern is reliability though. Reviews seems good and for the price if it fails and I can not get warranty coverage, it really is not that expensive. My Grizzly 40 qt cooler cost more then it....

Just by the way to everyone, Dometic has been in the RV fridge business for decades, since the 60s or so, they know their stuff. Not to say Iceco, Smittybilt, Ozark, or any other cant hold their own, but for me it was never even a question on what brand to buy. Also Dometic makes all ARB fridges, albeit to different specifications.

I've been using the ARB Zero dual zone 73qt for a couple months now and its been nice. Haven't taken it out for any overnighters or extended trips yet but its been clutch taking popsicles to the beach for the kids. I was looking at the Dometic CFX3 but the dimensions are a little longer than the ARB. Didn't want to sacrifice losing the reclining feature for the back seats

Agreed, I would definitely go with the Dometic if money were not an object. At this point, the cost difference is enough to pay for Ditch Lights, so I decided to get premium ditch lights and a fridge that can get me by for a few years (The SetPoint has a two year warranty). If it croaks by then, i'll be ready to get my dream Dometic!

He has a Rig'd Ultraswing. Those and the Wilco Offroad ones are probably the nicest on the market without going to a full replacement bumper

I've been trying to rip mine off one trail at a time. The departure angle with 33s is really helpful for this. My fancy matte black exhaust tip has a nice W shape to the bottom now o_O

I had an ARB drawer system and ARB Elements fridge in my 1993 Land Cruiser. It was a slick setup, but I never thought the Elements fridge cooled properly. It would say the fridge was 40 degrees on the display, but the drinks inside would be sweating. I installed a battery fan to help circulate cool air, but I never thought it worked right. Maybe just an anomaly.

I would like a fridge setup in my T4R for road-trips, but I haven't found anything as well integrated as my old Land Cruiser setup.

Just wanted to give you guys an update:

The Setpoint RV45D has been a fantastic purchase. I let it sit on the counter upright for 48 hours (it's recommended for 24, but just wanted to be sure) to ensure the freon has settled before plugging in. The freezer side is COLD..... dropped some frozen meats in there and for over a week kept things frozen rock solid. The partition eats into the space just a little, but considering both fridge and freeze at the same time it's very worth it.

As far as I am concerned, I got the function of a Dometic Fridge/Freezer for less than half the price. Only time will tell if the build quality is comparable long-term.
