Bye Bye 2020. Hello 2021.

Its been a minute since I got back on the forums. Got tied up with other responsibilities. Took advantage of the used car market. Sold my 2020 Runner with 2k miles on it. Pretty much got paid to drive it for free for about a year and a half. So why not get a 2021 lol.

So...why sell a truck with 2k miles to buy the same truck? Not criticizing, just don't see the rationale.

The 2020 was set up pretty nice - why start from scratch?

 

did you sell or trade the 2020? Used prices do look insane right now. I need to sell or trade my 2020 to get another tow rig

 

I sold it dude. Trading it in wouldn't have came close to the private party sell.

A profit of $15k along with now keyless entry, push button start, led headlights and fog lights got the best of me.

Wow! I was hoping to just break even or maybe a few k over, but 15k!! That is awesome for you! I have seen some used 4runners locally for well over new MSRP prices listed

 

So is that $15k in your pocket after you purchased the 2021, or did you need to put all that towards purchasing the new rig? i.e:

Purchased 2020 for $X
Was given $Y for 2020 just recently
Had to put $Z of recent sales price $Y into purcha$e pri$e of 2021.
What's left is profit.

 

I assume no dealer is going to let anyone straight trade or give money back on their older one for a new one?

So best options are:

1) To sell it to one dealer and buy a new one from another dealer?

2) To sell private party and then buy a new one from a dealer (like in the OP case here)?

 

Nope. 8k went towards the down payment on the 2021, the rest went into my pocket.
