Getting my new Nightshade 4runner this week!

I am looking at aftermarket crossbars. At least one person has recommended LFD on just about every roof rack/crossbar thread I have read on this site . Great price and obviously well made

Does anyone have a pic of the LFD crossbar bundle w/ windfairing on Nightshade? or a Magnetic Gray blacked out 4runner. (I am stupid particular about how stuff looks on my ride)

I have always gotten vortex Rhino Rack cross bars flush mount for my other vehicles...mostly because I like the way they look and they are pretty quiet with out a wind fairing.

This forum is a wealth of info! I am getting husky liners, canvas back cargo covers, center console organizer, screen protector...eventually sprint booster...y'all make spending money too easy.

Recommend you get the LFD integrated wind fairing and crossbar. I had the bolt on wind fairing. On a drive from SW Missouri to Key West Florida, it sounded like a Jackhammer up there at 85mph+. LFD swapped it out for free. Great company, very responsive to criticism.

You might put down some 3m plastic-stick on bra where the fairing lines up with the roof of your 4Runner for extra protection. My 4Runner is covered in pinstripes and scratches from off roading every weekend. I'm not too worried about it.

Not sure if it was here or the other 4Runner forum but someone mentioned the 3M clear strips turn yellow w/ age sun exposure. They recommended the tinted or black strips. I have neither. You can see the line on my roof from the bolt on fairing. It goes with all the other dings in my finish.

Edited add: What's nice about the LFD crossbars is that you can turn them into a full roof rack with the addition of the 2 side bars. I'm contemplating a roof top tent and will most likely will convert my crossbars to a full roof rack.

Looks good. I have the same crossbars from LFD. They did not send me the protector that goes under my wind faring rail though. Did yours come with, or did you add something to it?

I think there has been a couple design changes on the integrated fairing crossbar. Mine came with the door edge trim. I saw someone else had one that didn't contact the roof and didn't need the trim. Does your wind fairing touch the roof?

I'm going to cut my fairing back if it comes too close to the roof sheet metal. Not interested in trying to mitigate abrasion with trim and protective strips.

Have built enough vehicles and ridden enough mile to know that's a fool's errand. Vibration destroys everything in its path. Avoid the contact in the first place.

Will post pics when they arrive and after I've done it ;-0

One of these days, I need to remove the fairing crossbar and see how it is without it.
I doubt the fairing crossbar is needed.

People ask me, how is the wind noise from the crossbars? I respond I can't hear anything over my loud tires.

No, mine does not touch DRobs. There may be .5” space between the bottom of the sheet metal and top of the roof. Not a big deal unless it gets loose. Over all, I’m happy with them. They’re very sturdy and minimal noise. Pretty good price considering what a rack/basket goes for. I can post a pic later.

I think they look pretty good with the nightshade trim. Forgive the smudges..sweaty hands...it was hot!

I just drove from Conroe, Texas to Pensacola, Florida and back (including all sorts of backroads during the shit show Louisiana evacuation Saturday) and didn’t have a bit of vibration or noise from the LFD fairing. I didn’t require the door edge looking plastic trim as the clearance was sufficient. As has been said, for the money it’s a very nice crossbar system. My only regret is that I didn’t put the LFD sticker that comes with it on before I installed. It would have been much easier to get it straight.

I didn't get a sticker :(. took on the highway to test wind noise and didn't notice any difference. Happy with this purchase

So yours came with the edge trim, and is plenty far from the roof metal, even with the trim?

On the sides there is a little room...the edge trim touches the paint in the center for sure. The front of the edge trim is stiff the bottom is a soft rubber
