I’ve traded in old Toyota’s for new Toyota’s.
But I won’t get rid of my’03 TJ. It’s a purpose built rock crawler with no nanny features.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
I traded my 78 Chevy Luv, which is just an Isuzu Trooper II, with a different body on it. Anywho, the dealership was having a "Push, pull, tug, or tow it in for a $2000.00 trade in value". I got my 87 pickup for it. This was in 88. They got me for $12,000.00 total. I had a decent payment plan I could afford.
After I ran into a horse on my motorcycle, and what he was doing on my motorcycle I will never know :rimshot:, I got a decent insurance payment, so I payed off the pickup, and bought the 87 4Runner.

Just this spring, I bought the 99 4Runner. I like it, but no matter what else I ever get, the pickup will always have a special place in my heart, not to mention my butt. We fit each other after driving it back and for to work for 15 years. My middle daughter also learned to drive in it, and wants to buy it off me to teach her three sons in it! I knew how to drive a manual, having learned on my dad's 57 Chevy Stepside pickup. It was essentially a 3 speed, with 1st being a granny low, so when I got the pickup, I loved the 2 extra speeds!

    Have fun, all!
    Pat☺

You wanna talk garbage vehicle brand? VW for sure. Had 1999 Passat as my first car out of college, and I wound up spending more repairing that POS than what I owed for tuition for my Romantic Korean Literature Masters Degree.

Been all about Japanese makes since then.

Sold my 2005 Frontier Crew Cab and used the money towards a RAV4 for my wife (2nd). Traded in her 2005 Xterra for my 2019 4Runner (1st). Both had under 25K miles. Since I am retired and the wife is close, we used money from my 401(k) for the balance, so we would have two really reliable, low mileage cars!

Traded my 2017 Rubicon for the 4Runner. Like many here, couldn't turn down the fact that I got $5k more than I paid for it, and I wanted a roomier truck that didn't have an idiotic rollbar taking up all the storage room. Why they persist with the dopey 4 door convertible is beyond me.

Anyhow, love the 4R except the ancient transmission that can't maintain gear when driving up the tiniest incline at highway speeds. :)

I have had quite a few Toyota’s over the years. I loved my 2000 Tacoma 31100 miles on it in 9 years! No problems except there was a rust recall for that year Toyota bought it back for 13,265 dollars. So I bought a 09 Tacoma it was ok but the 4 cylinder is just gutless a lady rear ended me that sucked! So I bought a 06 TRD with a 4.0 much better!
But I get in my 87 4Runner and just drive and you can’t be in a hurry!

Hondas are as solid as Toyotas.

I traded in my '16 Frontier P4X with manual transmission for my '18 SR5P. They gave me $19,500 for the Frontier and my 4Runner was $28,000 (CPO with 32,000 miles). The Frontier was a very good truck, but the back seat was useless for lanky kids and dogs.

Traded my 2003 slick top 6 speed in when my daughter was born for my Tacoma (first Toyota) because I was out of space. Now that she is 5 and I have a different job, I had to do the same with the Tacoma. Just recently bought the 4Runner. Kids need more room than I thought!!

I wouldn’t trade a German car for a Toyota, Toyota dealers are notorious for lowballing you because they either don’t know or they do know and they hope that YOU don’t know.

They even lowball Toyota owners. I got screwed big-time when I traded in my Corolla for a Rav4 5 years ago. Dealers will do dealer things

It is never a good idea in my opinion to trade in your car. You just buy a new car and sell your existing car to a friend or to somebody online

If you don’t want to go private sale, take your used P-car to a Porsche dealer.

They will take your Toyota for 10 grand, polish it up and put the Toyota certified nonsense label on it, and sell it back for 18 grand.

Traded in a 2018 Accord Sport, actually made some money off the deal. Convinced we needed the 4runner for more space for the new kid and dog, but deep down inside I wanted it for the offroading and future adventures.
