I installed Bilstein 5100, lifted 1.75 inches in front and 1.5 in back. Do I need a diff drop kit? ...and if don't need one but install one anyway, will help relieve stress on CV joint or will it damage something??

Probably don’t need it, you can check your angles to verify.

Thanks for your replies. How would I verify by looking at the angles though? That is the tricky part of my question.

These are mine with a diff drop on a 3” lift. As long as they’re not horribly crooked you should be good.

FYI if yours look anything like this, you're fine. This is pretty even for a 3" lift and I'd run it without a diff drop all day.

A diff drop isn't going to hurt anything with your lift height, but the real question is how much do they actually help? I suspect not very much based on limited experience. I installed one with my lift. When the fronts finally settled to just over +3.5" of lift after 3 months, the CVs still hated it. After I lowered the coil seats by 1/2" it now sits at +2.3" which is perfect. I'm not taking the diff drop out.

You might want to upgrade the bump stops though.

Anything above 3" the 4R usually is not happy.

Hello all - new to the 4R world with a 2022 ORP. Just got a 3.5" lift without drop diff and trying to compare your photos with my current state

Do I need a drop diff and will installing one require another alignment?

I think you need one. The symmetry doesn't seem right per the picture. But then again, sometimes I don't even know what we are looking at. Mine has one.

I got the same setup but I did a 2.5in upfront due to the KDSS limitation. I did alignment with high degree caster and no problems. Since you went 3.5in, I think you need drop diff and alignment.

Thanks for your responses. Yeah Dobinsons sent the wrong Strut and Spring (extended strut adds 1" to 2.5" coil = 3.5" total lift). I have requested a change out to the IMS-574 extended strut with adjusted seat height of 213mm to add no additional height to the C59 springs (2.5" total lift height).

@shabbadel36 - What did you get for your rear lift? I have the GS rear struts and 1.5" coil but the rear look much taller than stock(24.5" wheel center to fender).

Remember that the "Diff Drop" commonly sold is just 2 spacers and longer bolts for the front brackets only. Nobody ever drops the rear of the Diff, so the amount of actual "drop" will be 1/3 to 1/2 of what the spacer thickness is (geometry). Example lines are for a 1" spacer will yield 0.33" of actual drop at the CV's.
