My grandson asked me if I had experience with 33” Kenda Klever All-Terrains, he would like to put them on his 4R OR. Told him, never heard about this brand.

Does anyone has knowledge about this brand, and to which other brand do they compare?

    Any members, all input welcome.

    Thank you.

I don't have any direct knowledge but I have seen others posting that they run those on their rigs and seem to be pretty happy with them, or at least that is the impression I have. Hopefully some more knowledgeable folks will chime in.

I have never heard of these tires either. Recently, I installed the Toyo Open Country AT3 tires. I love them and the ride quality. Can't go wrong with the Toyos!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean, I have Bf Goodrich KO 2's. That kid has a mind of his own, let me tell you.

    Btw. Nice rig.

    Hello James,

I'm doing some research as well; he asked me an hour ago, I told him buy KO 2's or some Ridge Grapplers. Like I said, he has a mind of his own this one, I'm even amazed he asked me. I just don't want him to make a bad choice, where he lives there is a lot of snow, sludge, rain Etc.

I hear ya. And I am also running KO2's but with the E load. Lot's of sharp rocks where I tend to end up.

The only Kendas I’ve ever used are on my mountain bikes and they seem to be pretty decent at that.

Hey guys so I guess these haven’t caught on yet but I’m running Kenda Klevers 285/70 17 and I really like them! Not too noisy on the road at all and the perform well off-road. Keep in mind I live in SoCal but I’ve put them to the test in every terrain I could find including the little snow we get in the mountains of big bear. So far they have also worn down evenly and I expect at least 50k miles out of them.

Thank you, that's a good indicator. How many miles do you have on them? Which company sells them? If I may ask, what is the price?

    Btw. Good looking rig.

They certainly look nice, where are they manufactured?

As long as they aren't manufactured in China they are probably fine.

Thanks for the compliments! And yes they’re from Taiwan. I’ve had them now for about 10k miles and honestly I can barely even tell that they’ve worn down at all. The siping is still in good shape through out the tire. The also have good flex when aired down but keep in mind they are a heavy tire with a thick sidewall so airing down a little won’t do much difference but airing down a lot helps tremendously when crawling.

i picked them up at a local tire shop and I paid $780 for the set of 4. I still need to go back for a spare but since I’m not too worried about them puncturing I just have a dinky used tire for a spare right now.

And just for reference I got them installed in may 2020

They look nice. Went on Amazon and very few reviews. The price on 285s now is nuts. Paid $165 each for my Cooper Evolution MTs last year and now they are $204.

The Kendas are $209, which seems high for a relatively unknown off-brand tire from Taiwan. I'll stick with the Coopers at that price point.

I can never tell with YouTube reviews whether they are paid promotions or not, not everyone announces that fact. The few reviews on the R/T version seem pretty positive.

There's a tire store locally in NM with the R/T in stock, out the door it's more expensive than the K02 from Discount Tire.

Man, I'm doing endless navel gazing over tires. I should just buy the K02's and move on. :)

Tire selection ranks right up there with oil/fluid selection opinions on forums.

If those two items were forbidden on this forum, I'm not sure what we would talk about. ;)

I for sure agree with KO 2's I have been pleased with them for many years, before KO now KO 2's. Never had problems on/off road & good in all weather, no problems with vibration etc. Made in the US.

See, my grand son has some other ideas and came up that he want's to purchase these Kenda Klever All-Terrains. I asked him why, because I never heard of that brand, he told me a friend has them with 71.000 miles on it and they are still good. That's why I was asking here on the members. Me, Discount Tire & KO 2's.

Yeah, I wish there was some reliable technique to review tire performance, but, anecdotal evidence is all we've got. I'm definitely curious about the Kendas, Patagonias, etc. It's just too expensive to make a bad choice.

Exactly, not much info on rain, highway speeds in a thunder storm, sludge; which my grand son has that over there.

Here is what I did, I gave him the choice, buy your Kenda Klever All-Terrains with your money; or accept an early birthday gift from me a set of KO 2's. All set KO 2's he agreed on.

My experience with K02'in ice and slush have been dicey. But looking back, i was probably going way to fast, after noticing 1" thick ice build up on the radio antenna or fine Champaign powder clogging the air intake, one should probably stay under the speed limits. Kind of looking forward to having other seasons then just summer.

I was watching some video the other day in which they bought three beater trucks and were trying to determine which was the best off-road. Looks like it came down to the tires they chose, as one truck ran Toyo MTs, one ran Cooper STT MTs, and the third ran a tire I didn't recognize. Turned out to be the Nitto Ridge Grappler. That truck ended up winning and the tire's performance in the snow and on rocks was very impressive. Too bad they are so expensive.
