Will 33” pizza cutters — 255/80/17s — fit on a stock 2021 TRD Pro without rubbing?

I’ve researched many threads, including the official tire fitment thread here, and found a lot of contradictory or vague information. So I’m hoping the narrow question in the thread title might generate some useful specific feedback.

Not interested in people’s experience with 285s for the purposes of this thread.

Specifically asking about the TRD Pro in case the slight lift with that trim makes a difference.

 

I suspect you will get some rubbing, although to what degree I have no idea. Keep in mind the Pro wheels have a different offset than the Trail/Off Road wheels.

Before I installed my lift, mine had very minor rubbing in one small spot on the left mudflap but only with the wheel turned to the left, and even then only when I was braking or when hitting a valley gutter. I came to find out it rubbed there because my factory alignment had the caster set at less then +3 degrees. If it was +3 to +3.5 degrees it would not have rubbed at all.

Which tires are you considering?

 

I am very interested in this set up as well. I also have a 2021 Pro and love how it rides. I have no intention of modifying the suspension for quite some time. I will drive the stock Pro tires until they need replacement.

Even bumping up to a 275/70R17 will rub on a stock Pro. So I’d safely assume yes, to what extent though I am unsure.

 

The Pizza cutters will rub. Depending on wheel offset, they will rub with a 2" lift. Seen it first hand. I think they were Cooper Maxx ST or something on a friends truck with a 2" lift and T-Force wheels, which are probably similar offset to the OEM wheels or the TRD Pro wheels, offset was somewhere in the +10 to +15 ish area with a 7" or 7.5" wheel.

 

If you care about onroad comfort when I checked, all pizza cutters were Load E tires. In the past I've used Load E 275/70R17 and on road comfort was not good. So decided never to use Load E again.

Wish 255/80R17 have A/T Load C option with 3peak mountain snow flake rating. Or even SL rated tires as some owners like SL tires.

 

I'm running Falken wildpeak AT3W 255/80R17 on my 2020 TRD pro, on the stock wheels, the only rubbing I get is at full lock when the suspension is flexing. The rubbing is slight and on the mud flaps.

edit: After installing a C4 low-pro bumper and winch last week, I'm getting a little more rubbing due to the weight of bumper pushing down on the suspension.

 

TO be clear, when I say you'll rub or not rub, I mean at full stuff not just road driving. If you rub with that extra weight on pavement you're gong to rub like crazy when you start articulating.

 

Yep got that, just giving my experience.

There was little rubbing a full flex and lock off-road, did several runs this spring and summer. I'm going on a run this week-end, this will be my first time with bumper. Will see what the weight of the bumper does to the rubbing at full lock and flex.

 

Also to illustrate how much offset and wheel width matters, I rub with a 2" lift on 265/70/r17 KO2s (which run smallish) with my 8" -12 offset wheels. That's a factory tire with a 2" lift but the -12 offset and 8" wheel makes it rub, only at the most extreme stuff full lock turns, but still...and the rubbing is incredibly light, but it's there.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a ten day run, so the truck is fully loaded and sitting low.

 

I am heavily considering a 255/75 C for my next tire. the K02 claims 32.1 dia. That is 0.5" more than stock 265 nitto. have you seen that size mentioned as not rubbing?
