I was looking to order a 2022 4runner trd pro. My dealer said all the orders are filled which they limit only 19 but he could put me on a waiting list and if one cancels I would be next up.

My next option is the Trd off road premium in lunar rock or take a chance and wait if one cancels.

What is your end goal? Do you plan on building a serious off road rig for rock crawling and over landing? Is it mostly going to be a daily driver with light to moderate wheeling on the weekends? Do you want something that is pretty good right away or do you want to add and choose your own suspension etc?

If you are planning on doing a lot of work, the pro probably is not worth it. I got a 2021 pro, I love it. I love the feel of the fox tune suspension on road and off. It handles my daily driving, road trips with the family and my off-roading so far. I do light off road on dirt trails up to moderate wheeling that, so far, has not needed more than what the pro is capable of. I can put my traction boards and a case on the rack up top and that’s all I need.

If you plan on doing a roof top tent, or adding a lot of amor and a fridge to do serious over-landing, or Serious rock crawling off-roading, I would go with the TRD off road and do your build your own rig out. The weight limit on the stock suspension is pretty low, you will need beefier shocks and springs if you plan on adding a lot of weight. Same for serious off-roading. If you are going to go full steel armor, and want to do a serious lift, I would not get the pro as you will have to change the suspension for anything major.

Just my 2 cents as someone who put a deposit down on a orp and wound up with a pro after my wife pushed me that way.

Thanks for your input! I was looking to get the pro since I’m just going to leave it stock. It would be my daily driver and light off roading to get to fishing spots..

I do like the trd off road to which has kdss which is standard here in Hawaii. The price is cheaper then the pro but if I do go with the trd off road I will upgrade to bilstein 6112/5160 and lift it to 2.5 with trd pro wheels. I will also get the trd pro exhaust. As for color they have lunar rock and for the trd pro it doesn’t have the color option.

Sounds like you’d get more vehicle if you go with the off-road and upgrades versus the stock pro.

Not sure what island you are on but you don't really need any lift to fish on Oahu.

So, if it is 2022 I do not think you can get the pro in LR, reports say the pro color is a lime or version of it (also heard yellow). If you are going to get kdss and lift it, you may get more bang for your buck out of the off road. If you are doing a cat back for the exhaust anyway, get something that comes out the back as opposed to the side, I keep banging mine when I off-road, it’s in a horrible spot. For what you are doing, probably cannot go wrong either way. The 2.5 inch lift with the billsteins will be more off road capable.

Can you go up to the Kahukus off-roading in the forest preserve? Or perhaps by the mountains toward North shore.

I’m on Oahu and bought the 21 Trd off-road premium, I did a dobinsons ims suspension kit and put 285/70r17 ko2. I have kdss and the ride is awesome BUT the lift affects your front sway bar bushing stretching it, I bought the runner in November 2020 but I ordered the off-road in September. I couldn’t wait for the trd pro cause I was told the wait was till until February 2021, that being said I wish I waited for the trd pro.
