We bought a FWD RAV4. Great car but we did need studded tires when we moved to eastern Washington. Just got the wife a newer RAV and went AWD on this one. NICE car (Not as nice as my 4WD 4Runner or as heavy duty as my FJ40!)

They are nice. I would love one for regular camping trips and travelling if off-roading wasn't on the menu.

Did you had the 9's or the studded?

WE found (in our old one) that we filled it to the brim on a two week camping trip through Oregon and NorCal! With a GSP and a "schnoodle", it took all the available space with camping gear (I had to load my fly rods from the front seat!). We're going to SoCal, Tucson, Flagstaff, Denver, & Boulder (Maybe Boise) this fall to visit relatives and taking the 4Runner; putting all season tires back on because it's likely we'll get some snow and we're staying on-road, except maybe some Park service roads.

Granted the RAV gets much better mileage! I wouldn't mind so much but we both have knee injuries (Me= twice broken kneecap and wife=broken kneecap 3 weeks ago!).
