Port installed options

Since some features are port installed, is it possible to do them yourself? I ask because I would like the interior exterior illuminated entry feature but there isn't one available that I can find that had it. Is it factory pre-wired/harnessed to add this feature assuming I install the lights? Also the touch keypad entry.

Are you referring to the puddle lights underneath the side mirrors? If so you have to wire those in, there is no pre existing wiring unless your model comes with those options. And the 4runner doesn’t have a keypad entry option.

 

Toyota configurator shows both as options. Ive found some that have those options already on them but they come with $5-7k worth of other stuff i dont want

 

As long as you catch your vehicle before it leaves port you can have your dealer add them as I did. For less than listed prices as well if you negotiate
BTW I love the Touch Keypad, the exterior illumination is a little obscured behind the OEM sliders

 

If it hasn't arrived in port yet, you can remove almost all the port installed items (except the sunroof). I got $1700 worth of overpriced junk removed before it hit the dock.

 

Sometimes you can even if it has arrived at the port, just depends on if it’s already done or not.

 

My sale person did not let me make adjustments to the vehicle before port. Sorta frustrating but I know now he was being up front with me or had bad info from his end. Probably just wanted more of my money though.

 

He completely lied to you. I took mine off after it was already at the port

 

My sales person never mentioned removing any port options. They told me at first it was a dealer swap and it was coming from another dealership (take it or leave it), but then I found out it was still on the ship a week out. All they did was switch dealer allocations.

So I called the sales manager and he said, sure, you can remove anything you like except the sunroof, and the window sticker was updated.

Some things can't be removed once applied, like the plastic stick on hood protector and door protectors.

Southeast Toyota is famous for tossing in a $75 USB Charging cable into every vehicle.

 

Id love to get one of those numeric unlocking pads for mine, but It wasn't offered in my region. Ive got one on my Explorer, I use it all the time.

Found one for sale on eBay by a Toyota dealer but they have a note saying it’s unavailable to ship to California. Anyone know why?
