My ideal 4R is a white Venture Edition with KDSS and a moon roof. I've searched all over with no luck and no help from BS sales people. Their typical response is that KDSS is not available on the Venture which is BS. Is there a way of searching nationally? Yes, I get it: end of year and MY 22 coming.
    Suggestions?
I've decided that if I can't get what I want I'll either get an 22 ORP or a Pro. Still would prefer the Venture.
    Thanks

Yes the venture does have KDSS as an option. Search for big dealer companies. 3rd party companies like cargurus is also a good one.

2 combinations I would avoid. I don't like white paint due to issues and same story with KDSS.
I wish I can find one without sunroof with hail here in CO and added head room is a plus. But sadly couldn't find any.
These are only my preference, not saying buying KDSS and white is a bad choice to someone else.

So many editions now. Toyota really running out of ideas to keep things fresh. Nor can I keep up on which edition has what. o_O

Have you had issues personally with KDSS, or are you going off what someone said online? I've not had or seen any serious issues, just stories of the skid plate filling up with mud. If you drive through mud, you have to clean it up. The benefits of KDSS far outweigh the time and effort needed to maintain it. You have to do that anyway.

A salesperson that wanted to put in some 'work' could put in a dealer search and see if any dealers have what your looking for. We got ours that way, otherwise there was a couple month wait. It's a sellers market right now, most likely the dealerships that have what you're looking for are going to hang on to them. I've never used Car gurus or things like that, it maybe the best at locating your 4Runner.

Have been running white Toyotas for decades and have never had an issue with the paint.

Had one dealership say they wouldn't do a search unless I put a deposit down. I have the money but I balked due to the principal.

I don't think the ORP differs from the Venture with the exception of cosmetics. Perhaps I am mistaken.
Like I've said in other threads, if I can't get the Venture I'll wait for MY 22 and go ORP or Pro. I do like BSM.

Could get a 22 ORP and change the cosmetics. Seems costly. Old guy just wanting what I want.

    All of them.
We have both a 21 venture and a 20 orp. Having both I can tell you there is no difference other than the black appearance options for mirrors, handles, rear spoiler and basket on top. I’m not sure what the mark up is for the venture vs orp because we got the venture on a special deal because the 2nd orp we ordered got left at port by accident. So depending on the markup for those you may be better off getting the orp and just adding what you want. Down the road. The basket has all but proven useless for us other than looks and a the occasional bag or so up there. Nothing else that we use on our trips really fits or is too awkward to get it in there.

Also I should add the venture actually had some slight downgrades if you want to call them that. Little things on the interior like the transmission selector handle that didn’t seem as nice on the orp. Then some people noticed (we didn’t until it was pointed out here) the venture comes with sr5 rear bumpers (big deal right?). But other than little things they are the exact same truck.

I don't care about the basket. I'd sell it.

Yes, probably wait for MY 22 hoping things settle down in the market. Do prefer BSM.

Got a couple of hits on CarGurus. Will see how it shakes out.
    Thanks

None of my 4Runners got KDSS, so no long term personal experience.

Test driven KDSS and wasn't a big deal to me.

I stay away from KDSS because of the issues I'm seeing with KDSS from FB group in CO and 4Runner forums (both .com and .org).

Removing KDSS covers to clean after a trail run on weekend is not my choice of maintenance. I'm lazy who go to a automatic wash when I come home. I'm ok to change shocks when they go bad / leak with age but don't want to repair KDSS do that when they age or for some they leak much earlier (as per online). Not taking that risk.

I know there are regular members in this forum with KDSS and have no issues what so ever.Again its just me..

I too was a white Toyota owner (Rav4, Venza, 4Runner) and none had paint issues. The reason I used to love white is because it would be the best color to keep the vehicles less hot in summer days. I even had light interior on my 4Runner and Venza. But I was not feeling comfortable after seeing the recall. I'm someone who don't like to take a chance. (same with not picking KDSS). When ever I see a problem I move out of it.

I have a 2021 in superwhite. The paint is unbelievably soft and if you get any rock chips ever it will take the paint off to bare metal so be prepared for that

My buddy has Barcelona red and the paint is crap on his too, paint is flaking off on his 2018 but his at least has a protective layer of primer and not exposed metal

I have a 2020 Super White with KDSS and sunroof. I had to wait for a while but the dealer got it for me.

I just did a search of 3 Toyota dealerships in my area. There are 6 available, all of them are “in transit “, but none of them have KDSS. But the other 2 wants( white and sunroof).

I will say I have a white venture w/o KDSS and love it!

I have an MGM/KDSS Venture sans moonroof that replaced a totaled KDSS/moonroof ORP (600 miles) and while living in Northern California, I miss the moonroof something fierce, should we not have been able to get a KDSS 4Runner we most likely would have gotten a 200 Series.

Living where roads are often both twisty and often treacherous, KDSS rules. We were just at the start of Hwy 1 (PCH) at the start off 101 in Leggett, CA and I must say the difference is not subtle. And that is after driving a SR5 down that same road several times.
