Bilstein 6112 Thread

Can we get a thread of those running Bilstein 6112 with pictures, height settings, rear setup, wheel/tire size, etc. I'm thinking of going 6112 at 2" with 5160 and Bilstein 1" rear coil.

 

I’ve got the Bilstein 6112’s set at 2.5” with 5160’s and Icon 2” coils in the rear. I almost got the Bilstein 1” coils, but was concerned I might end up with a high front end after everything settled and I like a little rake.

I also have Icon UCA’s, 285/70/17 BFG KO2’s on Icon Vector 6 wheels With 0 off-set . I pushed forward the fender liners and trimmed the bumper a bit. Didn’t rub on the body mounts- cleared by a finger width, but got a BMC because I’m sure it would have made contact off road.

I really like the Bilstein set up- the ride is great both on and off road. Never considered Icon set up- just happened the shop I went to had ready access to Icon parts and was sold on the look of the Icon wheels.

 

6112 at 2.4 with KDSS, aluminum winch bumper and X20 winch pull it down, Blistein 1” springs in the rear with 5160s. My only regret is I might have got the heavy spring on the 6112 that add a half inch and are for constant load over 140lbs. I also think I would get the heavy springs for the back that do 1 1/2” lift and 400lb constant load. If I load up with gear I can get a little reverse rake.


If I could make a suggestion, think about what your going to do to your 4Runner in the future. If your going to add full skids, winch, rear bumper, tow something, consider the heavy springs.
I like the 5160/6112 set up, it rides nice, totally got rid of the nose dive.
I run 275/70/17 on SEMA rim with durabumps. Evergreen OffRoad hidden winch with Smittybilt x20, full RCI aluminum skids including fuel tank.

 

I’ve seen mixed reviews with these. I’m planning on switching them out from my 5100’s. These are rated for max 2.5” of lift but I’ve seen some people get upward of 3”?

 

I've got the 6112/5160 on my Tundra at 1.9" front, I like it and am strongly considering them for our 4runner. I don't think we need anything like King, Icon, Fox, etc. but definitely don't want spacer lift. I started a similar thread on Tundras.com at its at 1,400 posts!! Just thought I'd get a picture and setup thread going here for ideas from people running these.

I've read that one before, and it's a good article. Since I have the 6112/5160 on my Tundra I was aiming for this thread to give me ideas on what different settings look like. I'm currently thinking 2" front and the Bilstein 1" rear coil (or other brands). But would love to see as many variations as I can.

 

What setting and rear setup?

 

1 clip down from the highest, so 2.75ish.

SPC uca’s

Looking at doing the same setup as well. For the UCAs I'm leaning towards Icons. Since I have KDSS, front at 2.5", rear at 2".

Wow- never saw this chart- I’ve got KDSS and told the shop to use top setting- assuming 2.5”. I guess I could be at 3”!

 

KDSS, 6112's @ 2.3", medium load front springs

Rear 5100's + Bilste heavy load 1.5" springs.

Slimline bumper + winch + skids + sliders + always hauling a bunch of tools and recovery gear.

 

Nice choice on the AT3's!! Here's how she sits on factory suspension with Method NV and factory size AT3's load range E. Keeping that tire size since they only have 6k that's why I'm thinking 2/1 so I don't look like I missed leg day.

 

Mine is on the 1.6" setting. 5/3. Cornfed spacer in the rear 1" and .9" to account for the lean and OEM rear coils. Just added 275's and they rub slightly when backing out of the driveway turning sharp. 6112 and 5160 set up.

275/70/17 BFGs, 6112s at 2” front, 5160s rear, with Wheelers T13 springs (I think they are 1.5”). Stock UCAs.

 

So now I'm thinking 2.5 setting and a 1.5 rear coil or possibly spacer. Would UCAs be necessary, i know I'd be right at the limit, and would my 265/70 tires look goofy? Tires are LT load range E with about 7,500 miles on them see my post #18 the Methods make them look bigger on factory suspension.

 

I'd say with a 2.5" lift you'd want the larger tires for sure. I thought the 265's were a bit small even with the 1.6" lift. Next year I'd like to get UCA's and increase to 2.5". Not sure I'd go larger than 275's. A lot of people do the 285's but I think they are just too big.

 

That looks great! That is the exact set up Id like to run on my Pro... although I am bit confused about printed lift height values... If I set he 6112 for 2" that should realistically get my Pro (already +1" over other model 4R) 1" higher than I am.. Does that make sense?

Is the rear spring a higher rate than factory? I am also looking to remove some sag when loaded down for traveling. Ill probably swap over my Airbags too.. worst case, If I don't need them Ill just leave them under inflated(AirLift recommends 5psi)

 

Yes, you'll be 1" higher than you are with the 6112's set to 2".

It depends on what rear springs you're getting. If it's the B12, you can buy either a standard or heavy spring rate version.

 

I don't think I need a heavy spring, I mostly daily drive empty. would be nice when I do travel 5-7times a year, that I have the extra support... I guess a medium spring? 0-150lbs +/-?
Just thinking terms of bags of mulch and comparing that to the stuff I haul on a week long trip with a family of 3 and a small dog... I typically have my airbags inflated to max (30psi if I remember) and that gets me +1" empty and back to stock heigh loaded.

would be nice is someone made a less then 2” spring that has a slightly higher spring rate.

6112’s on HD coils for 2.5” front + OME upper control arms, 5160’s (TRD version) w/ OME HD (2898) coils about 2” rear, 265 Falken Wildpeaks on 17x9 AX202 -12mm offset.

 

What made you go with medium springs? are you on OEM UCAs? I am assuming that is a 285? Looks great man!

 

I felt the heavy duty would be too rough off road but wanted something more than stock to reduce the nosedive. Yes, I’m running 285’s but had to modify the fender wells to stop rubbing.
